Bill Clinton’s long, long speech about the meanie Republicans
Washington Post ^ | 09/05/2012 | Jennifer Rubin

Bill Clinton, don’t get me wrong, was the best speaker Wednesday night. But that is largely because the rest of the evening was atrocious. Clinton was hoarse, and he seemed to holler for no reason at all. He decried those meanie Republicans of today (the favorite ploy of partisan Democrats is to praise every Republican no longer in office), and he repeated the tropes that Republicans want you to be on your own, want a “winner-take-all” society and want to help only the rich. Yawn.

[Snip]

At his most effective, Clinton said that no president could have fixed in four years the economy that Obama inherited. And he extolled the belief that America ”always comes back.” Unfortunately, Obama promised to fix the economy in his first term. And the Obama recovery is the weakest in history. The comparison between the two presidents’ records was obvious, leaving one to consider if Clinton’s mere presence was a reminder of Obama’s weaknesses.

Like every other Democratic speaker, Clinton ignored the appalling increase in poverty under this president , a cynical betrayal of liberals’ supposed concern for the poor. No empathy or bitten lip is shown for them, or for the more than 8 percent of unemployed Americans (and millions more underemployed or who have stopped looking for work). The actual results of Obama’s policies are a sticky matter, so better to let him defend that himself.

Clinton’s Medicare spiel was downright disingenuous, claiming that Obama’s $716 billion in Medicare cuts don’t affect benefits...

[Snip]

Mostly, it seemed that Bill was paving the way for a potential Hillary presidential run. He talked fondly of her, of course, and gave a passing and remarkably vague defense of Obama’s foreign policy. He did not mention Israel.

He then proceeded to point out that he, too, had inherited a recession, but he managed to turn things around in the first six months he was in office...

He may have well said "don't you wish I was president now, instead of this incompetent buffoon?"

1/2 of America (media included) watched in rapt adoration as and acknowledged cocaine user defended the fabricated record of a proven detractor of American heritage and values who himself admitted to prolonged alcohol and drug abuse. IN the eyes of the media and most of the left these men are considered role models because they speak well.

I watched a fair chunk of Clinton’s speech last night. if i didn’t know him and didn’t know what happened the last sixteen years I’d have been highly impressed. He’s a great speaker. Almost nothing he says is actually factually true, almost nothing. He has that in common with O. If Clinton says it, you can take it to the bank that the precise opposite is true.

It was great seeing him take credit for balancing the budget, again, and reforming welfare, again. Gingrich forced him to enact Gingrich’s “contract with America” into law, and after being beaten into it, Clinton turned around and took credit for it and continues to this day. Welfare reform and balancing budgets are two things that Dems will never do and hate with a mighty passion, so it was funny seeing him parade his greatest defeat as being his crowning achievement.

Something like O taking credit for drilling in North Dakota, which he has tried to stop and will stop when he gets the right legal leverage. or taking credit for the natural gas developments that are taking off, which his minions are screaming about and doing everything possible to stop.

Good thing Factcheck.org didn’t have their machine tuned in to ‘Toon’s speech last night. Charlotte has had enough trouble with their power grid lately.

The man is a disgrace. Impeached, traitorous, lying, rapist.
His legacy are the two big holes at the end of Manhattan and in Penn.

It’s kind of funny that, if we was trying to pave the way for a Hillary candidacy, that Hillary wasn’t even at the convention.

In fact, how often do you ever see the two Clintons together? They are supposed to be some model power couple for Democrats, but I bet they don’t even live together anymore. They live separate lives, from what we see.

And I see Chelsea Mezvinsky was at the convention, without her husband. That wedding was the social event of the season last summer, yet, she is never with her husband in public. What’s up with that???

Republicans don’t much care about balancing the budget either. Remember Medicare Part D and the wars were not paid for. But the difference is that we have a strategic plan in place; creating deficits gets us policy changes we want, like phasing out socialist programs and that’s exactly where we need to go. Democrats just want to spend and spend on socialist programs, that’s their endgame. We are winning right now.

Clinton really is the consummate politician.

He hates Obama to the core for squandering an opportunity that Clinton would take and master (in his own mind).

However, he can speak and defend Obama as if he were his greatest advocate.

Clinton at least had the sense to stand out of the way at times (well, actually to have extra-marital affairs that kept him preoccupied on other matters...)- and let Gingrich's ideas go into effect and work. Obama has done nothing but block Republican proposals to help the economy.

Why let BJ Clinton take credit here?- Turn the argument right back on him and Obama at the same time.

(And Clinton can try to put all the lipstick on this pig that he wants, but the reality is that his party has been highjacked by a bunch of atheist, leftist radicals- they are out of touch with most Americans.)

How uickly they've forgotten the economy that Reagan inherited from Carter, in which he rolled his sleeves up and fixed in his first term.

But every time Clinton "endorses" Obama, I get a vibe from him of "Ah'm here to save this fella's ass for him again".

I saw the camera zoom in on Chelsea, yet I didn’t see anyone who remotely looked like even the surgically enhanced Chelsea we’ve seen lately. Poor girl had to literally remove her face for a chance to succeed, yet the genes remain.

Calling on one liar to defend another liar is proof of just how insane the liberals are.

Do they forget that Bubba was impeached for lying in front of a Grand Jury?

I sure didn’t forget it.

They are really fighting for their lives and I hope they are losing. Come November I guess we’ll find out.

She no longer even looks like her improved self. I wonder if she’s startled when she encounters a mirror. Lots of makeovers for this convention: Reid, Pelosi, Biden, Billy Jeff...
