Thought out the entire history of Islam it has been at war with the Christian West, and the Hindu East. And largely winning the war in both the west and east. Recall that the entire middle east and just about all of North Africa was once western and Christian. Now Islamic states exists in Europe and no Christian states exist in the middle east or N. Do we still have one of those “Puff” gunships we could send over there for crowd control? No they are all long gone. But we do have the AC-130s, because heck if the two 7.62 miniguns, two 20mm Vulcan's, and the 40mm bofors don't get them you always have the 105mm. There is no overkill, just the period of time between the order to open fire and the need to reload.

On the down side the Egyptians have squadrons of F-16s backed up by multiple batteries of MIM-104(PAC-3) Patriot missiles, so that AC-130 would last about three seconds over Egypt. Thanks to our tax dollars Egypt has one of the best, if not the best, air defense systems in the world.
