Sheesh! They found one spider in 1980 - a second exemplar now - and it's an endangered species?
And this is halting a $15 Million construction project? I thought the Snail Darter episode was ludicrous - this is far worse in my opinion.
Put a fork in us - we're done!
Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

It lives in a cave right?
And our roads are above ground, I think. Yes, they are.
Have a nice day.

I’m so tired of this shit. 99% of the species that ever lived on Earth are now extinct. This f’ing spider isn’t going to change world events.

We need to sprinkle a bunch of these spiders around D.C.

Insanity.
There is no other explanation.
This is absolutely undeniably utterly insane.

1 - It is NOT “rare”!
2 - It was not “discovered”!
For decades college university students have been tasked with conducting field trips and compiling lists of species within a given grid.
Then, whenever somebody wants to develop that area, the enviro-whackos pull out there list and declare, “you can’t build there, the endangered “widget” lives there.
Nobody else has a list to prove otherwise and they win.
This has gone on across the country for decades.

The Bracken Bat Cave is 30 miles or more from this intersection - did this spider hitch a ride?

This was on the radio news the other day. Apparently the way it works is that the various work crews are followed around by a federal government biologist (think commisar) that scrutinizes every shovelful of dirt to make sure there isn’t any endangered critters in there. My intuition tells me that this is a requirement for taking federal highway dollars. Be a shame if any of them were to have accidents.

True story. I was reading this when a wolf spider came running out toward my hand operating the mouse. I was also watching a DVR of Redeye at the time and the remote I had in my left hand ended any possibility of this spider infringing on my continued multi-tasking.

Any time I see a spider I check to make sure I don’t need to call someone
who might identify it as endangered.
Oh, how convenient for someone.
