"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."
Adding to his argument about entitlement, Romney said his "job is not to worry about those people."
"I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," he added.

I say 'independent' all the time in telephone polls, and believe me, as a Nevadan I get polled three times a week at minimum.
Romney is spot on here. Problem is the media is going to spin this to “prove” Romney is cold hearted rich son of bitch who doesn’t care about the poor and minorities.
If It works, those 47% go against him in addition to 10-15% guilty white votes to give 0bama a landslide.
"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what... There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."This just proves that there's no difference between him and Obama. /sarc
Here we go folks....its time to play....WHAT’S THE GOTCHA ON ROMNEY!!! ONLY MSM MEDIA MEMBERS NEED APPLY!
Time to stalk all those websites and ask what the racist comment about Obama saying “Ive said if the Republicans need more love, if they want me to walk the dog or wash their car, Im happy to do it.” really meant!!
I want an apology...what was he reeeeeallly saying?
For the third time, I agree with Romney.
Did anyone get an idea of exactly what the “controversial” part of this was?
Well... at least you’re one month younger than I am! :)
Sounds pretty good to me. I wish he’d take more stands on things that might be controversial. His overall point is sound, but the details may be a little off. I don’t agree that the number is as high as 47%. We know there are a lot of limousine liberals voting for Obama, so once you subtract them out, you don’t have that close to half voting just to keep their welfare checks coming. I also wouldn’t write them off totally. I would hope that welfare reform like Newt did could teach some of these people the value of hard work and move them into the conservative column.
His Latino joke is funny. And unfortunately this reminds me of Bob Dole’s campaign, where when the pressure was off, Dole loosened up and showed a sense of humor, becoming more likable. But during the campaign he was stern, stiff, cold and unlikable.
He does this hurt Romney actually? So the 47% of the free loaders should now become more motivated to vote against Romney? Isn’t being unmotivated the primary characteristic of a free loader?
Elevating sloth or stupidity into a virtue will not work for the Left. Whining about losing entitlements will also not work. Just ask teachers how well that worked out for them when they whined and threw tantrums when they had to give up some of their ‘Cadillac’ benefits to help balance the budget in WI. The only profession less respected in WI than public school teachers are, you guessed it, ‘journalists’.
Was gonna happen anyways. Republicans are gaining in local and state elections and building a strong foundation. Nationally we have no chance and might never again. By the next election in 4 years Texas will be purple and in 8 solid blue. That wil be the 3 largest states in their pockets.
What if this was released by Romney camp on purpose? This would make it the debate for the next 50 days.
Drudge seems to be on top of it, with Gallup story (govt does too much), disability claims soar, etc.
Romney is 100 percent right, took the words right out of my mouth. I see NOTHING wrong with what he said, he’s absolutely right
Yeah anything a Republican says is “Controversial” apparently leftists hate hearing the TRUTH
OK everyone...time to slamm CNN. Go on the website, leave your comment....Nothing to see here....old stuff....no news day? UH...you might want to try looking over...oh i dont know...LIBYA!!!!
If you want to see a real controversial hot mic statement, take a look at President Pinocchio telling the Russian to wait until after the election.
I’m agreeing with other posters here. I think this was done on purpose by Romney. It revs up the base and invites Obama to get into a debate about Bitter Clingers and his 2nd term agenda.
The election is over. Romney lost and lost big. Whether or not anyone thinks this is true, or if it IS true, is irrelevant. The only remaining question is how badly will down ticket suffer. It’s gonna be big.
Hang in there, conservatives, til 2016.
When that 47 reaches 50 we're done.
Mitt is right. And for what it's worth, I personally don't think people who are on welfare should be franchised to vote. We don't let "children" vote, but I have met young men and women who, at 16 and 17, are far more mature than many baby boomers I have known. Childhood should be redefined as a quality of self sufficiency regardless of age.
