LOL, Duhh, this is a DC newspaper, what do you think the results are going to be? Don’t waste your time, you will never catch up. This is the 47%’s major news source.

Seconded!

IMHO, anyone starting a thread should lead off the discussion. Give us some idea about some of these things: what you’re posting; why you think we should be interested; what you think about it; what you think should be done about it; etc.

Sorry, I get panicky when posting a thread. Somebody usually beats me to it. That still may be true in this case...

Do you agree with Mitt Romney that "there are 47 percent of the people…who are dependent on government, who believe that they are the victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them"?

Yes - 18%

No - 82%

This is another of the polls that loads the question to get the results they want.

Mitt Romney hates puppies. So do you like Mitt Romney?

The question should have been...

Do you agree with Mitt Romney that too many people are dependent on the government, and that sets up a situation where people will only support politicians who promise them to keep things the same as they are, or provide even more free things?

It's my take that people on Social Security, Medicare, and veterans programs understand what Romney was trying to say, and they agree with him. There's no vested interest in these people to support something that will bankrupt our country, thus destroying their retirements or access to medical care.

I don't mind. Just having 1% agree with Romney is enough to make the liberals take a mood altering substance to calm themselves down. I voted.

You don't have to donate money to the Romney campaign to make a difference. (You should donate money to FreeRepublic.)

If You Live in a Blue State, Here Is What You Can Do To Help Romney Beat Obama

I've made 1600 phone calls from home to New Hampshire in the last six days using the system set up by the campaign. Even 100 calls will make a difference. Who will join me?

Well, IMHO folks should be able to read what’s presented and come to their own conclusions.

Thanks for the post BreezyDog. You don’t need to explain to me why I should be over at the WP site, moving that poll back in the right direction.

So, I second the idea of you posting this thread here.

Though I responded "yes," I am in disagreement with Romney. The number is closer to 49%.

There’s virtually an unlimited amount of stuff to read on the internet. It’s not too much to ask a poster to make some effort to “sell” his or her post — to tell us why, of the infinite number of things we could be looking at, we should look at that particular article.

Sure, the fact that it’s posted on Freerepublic.com greatly increases the probability that it’s worth reading — but, even FReerepublic has too many articles to read.

Similarly, it’s not only reasonable (IMHO) for a poster to lead the discussion — it’s also an opportunity for the poster. Don’t leave us all hanging here — tell us what you think about what you posted, and why we should care. Point out what’s debatable. Suggest some actions. Whatever — the poster gets first comment, you should make it count.

BTW, regarding your post #9, you needn’t go off in a snit. Asking for a smidgen of info is not the same as defeatism. FWIW, I did click through, and FReeped the poll.

Done. I find it difficult to fathom how anyone can fail to see the logic in what Romney is saying here.

Still, it's a hideous, though entirely predictable, commentary on the looter mentality in that place.

DC should've been left alone as swampland .. that innocent acreage will never get the political stench off of itself now.
