US denies visas to 20 Iranian officials

Leading up to next week’s UN General Assembly, the U.S. has denied visas to an estimated 20 Iranian government officials planning on attending the event, Iran's Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

In preparation for the assembly, the Iranian delegation applied for about 160 visas two months ago, of which around 20 were turned down. The U.S. State Department gave no official reason, but the travel bans are likely due to sanctions related to Iran's nuclear program.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose final term in office ends next year, will give his last speech in front of the General Assembly at UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

Did we not hold those Persians (under diplomatic cover) for ransom? Imprison and torture them? Spies that they are.

The only reason the 20 didn’t get their visas?

Upon doing a background check, the Obama admin realized they were “clean”..there was no terrorist activity in their past.

Me thinks that the 20 denied ones were not really part of the regime, and the regime was ensuring that Obie administration can work to provide additional intelligence to the Mullahs as to who is “in” & who should be “out”!
