Mitt Romney: I stand with Big Bird (Real Romney petition-not satire)BARF

Big Bird isn't just a big, yellow bird. Every day, millions of children -- including my two sons and my daughter -- tune in to PBS. What they get is programming that teaches them. They learn their letters and numbers, yes. But they also learn about character. About treating one another with dignity and kindness. They learn that it's OK to be different, and to stand up for their friends.

Governor Romney says he likes Big Bird, but he's going to cut PBS anyway. PBS accounts for about 1/100th of 1% (.0012%) of the Federal Budget. It provides high quality educational content for children. It provides important news and information for adults. Cutting PBS won't help solve the budget deficit, but it will contribute to a character and education deficit. It will contribute to a cultural deficit as important news and information programs are taken off the air. It will rob us of some of our most cherished programs and sources of information.

See, I blame it on Sesame Street (and my horrible proofing abilities)

Fry Big Bird. His bones can mark the path back to a balanced budget and Constitutional government.

If this dork wants his commie TV, why doesn’t he pay for it? Its not like they don’t take donations.

When her kids are up to their tail feathers in debt financed by China so that they could watch some dumb bird on TeeVee, maybe she will think differently.

When :spit: Barney was on PBS, they were paying Lyons to make the episodes, and not getting a cut of the merchandising bucks.

The President of PBS makes over 600 grand a year, he can pay for Big Bird’s birdseed. Our federal dollars should NOT be spent giving money to a far left network like PBS.

Mitt Romney: I stand with Big Bird

I stand with Romney—on Big Bird's sexually ambiguous neck.

Romney gave specifics for eliminating govt waste...said he would look for any unnecessary govt spending, starting with things like PBS.

No matter how small a percentage of overall spending it is, all the small things add up to a lot of waste.

And after all these years, PBS and others can either make it or break it, including Big Bird.

If it’s that important, then all the progressives should suck it up and write multi-million dollar checks to PBS. Warren, where’s your check? Barbara Streisand, where’s your check. Come on rich progressives, are you trying to abort Big Bird?

If PBS programming is so marvelous it would survive in the free market.

You don’t have a kid that watches PBS programs or you’d know that Big Bird loves Chick Fil A. CFA sponsors Sesame Street.

Most of the programs my child watches on PBS would do just fine on cable.

1/100th of 1% (.0012%) of the Federal Budget

Did anyone notice that the writer is mathematically challenged? 1/100th of 1% is .01%. 1/1000th of 1% is .001%.

I have not watched Sesame Street in some time and have not seen ChickFilA sponsorship of it. I was associating the Sesame Street Muppets with the Jim Henson Company and their recent brouhaha over gay marriage. But the Sesame Street Muppets are now solely owned by Sesame Street, so I should take back my post until Sesame Street weighs in on the subject. Heh

We have young children, but we do not watch a lot of PBS. We do sometimes watch via On Demand programming, but I don’t recall seeing any Chick Fil A mentions. I can still remember the Sesame Street cast coming to Jackson, Ms when I was a little girl. It was a big deal for Mississippians because Jim Henson was from Mississippi.

Hubby laughed about your post. (Not at you.) He think the idea of bird cannibalism is hilarious. Lol
