President Barack Obama and the Democrats raised $181 million in September their largest monthly haul since he launched his reelection bid, his campaign announced Saturday.
"Some amazing news this morning: 1,825,813 people came together to raise $181 million for this campaign in September," the campaign said on Twitter.
"If you gave $5, it helped. 98% of September's contributions were $250 or less, with an average contribution of $53," it said.
The figures combine the Obama campaign's fund raising with Democratic National Committee efforts. The amount fell short of the Obama and DNC's single-month record, set in September 08, of $193 million. Romney has yet to make public his fund-raising haul.
Obama campaign manager, Jim Messina, emailed supporters with the "huge news."
Messina emphasized that the campaign and DNC had pulled in more than 10 million donations in 2012, a record.

How much of it came from illegal foreign donations? 2008 all over again.
Rumor has it his campaign is being investigated for huge foreign donations...something that should have been done in ‘08. Those Muslim oil sheiks have come through with their generous donations, the reason why he doesn’t want the USA to be energy independent. He supports our enemies and they support him.
Wonder when the supposed donor scandal will break? Soon hopefully.
Disconnect, thy name is Obama. The man with not much to say for himself and plenty of money to say it with.
How much of it came from illegal foreign donations? 2008 all over again.

As noted, it does not take much intelligence to figure out where MOST of this money is coming from. America has many enemies and they have a Manchurian Candidate in place.
i was concerned about this considering the way everyone slobbered over the rats convention...that said i’d like to see Romney’s numbers the 48 hours following the debate...
I read that romney raised $12 million in the 48 hours post debate.
...those new job numbers...
...Ta-Da!...
As Americans were being murdered,
assaulted, abused, consulates burning
and flags made to look like the bloody
handprints on the consulate, Obama is
happy to announce he raised $181 million
that month.
If I had to choose between momentum and money at this point, I’d certainly choose momentum.
zero ran 200 Million worth of ads against Romney and the effects of those ads were nuked in one night.
I’m wondering when this “blockbuster” donor scandal, that so many were tweeting and posting about, is going to hit.
I'd be shocked if Romney's contributions weren't waaaaaay up. I mailed him another check the next morning.
Generally unappreciated is that Obama's campaign has spent hundreds of millions attacking a mirage that anyone who watched the first 10 minutes of the debate could see doesn't exist. Obama might do better in the next debate's "town hall" format, but Romney won't do badly -- certainly not as badly as Obama did on Wednesday. Romney will look like what he is, not like an evil capitalist who cheats on his taxes and kills people's wives by giving them cancer.
Somebody jog my memory..
Isn’t there already a DoJ or FEC or CONgre$$ “investigation” and review ongoing of just the exact thing for the 2008 election?
.. small donations from foreign folk or such.. under the limits imposed.. and lots of ‘em .. hundreds of million as I recall..
boy, does this stink to high heaven.
So it looks like 2% of the donors coughed up about $90 million. Yeah, the party of the little guy.
They’re working overtime to create names and addresses for more fake donors.
Lots of Palestinians chipped in $3.
It looks to me like Soros the Russians, Arabs, and French made 60 million three dollar donations through untraceable prepaid credit cards, and the rest of the dems contributed a million or so.
There is less oversight on small contributions.
How many of them gave $250 4 times a week for the whole month?
Also his “$5 lottery” contributions help reduce the “average” amount when others are giving far more.
“If you gave $5, it helped. 98% of September’s contributions were $250 or less, with an average contribution of $53,” it said.
$181 million...that sure is a lot of free phones.
