Columbia classmate: Obama using IRS to punish me

"Outspoken 2008 VP candidate claims prez trying to 'silence critics'"

The former Libertarian Party vice presidential candidate who has claimed Barack Obama was unknown to him and his fellow Columbia University classmates charges the president is using the Internal Revenue Service to punish and silence him.

Wayne Allyn Root – a pre-law and political science major in the class of 1983, like the president – told WND that despite a spotless tax record, he became the target of an audit in January 2011 when he received an “unsettling” call from an IRS agent who called himself a fan of his and considered it “an honor” to audit him.

Root won a complete victory three months ago in tax court, which found no taxes owed in his 2007 and 2008 filings. But then, he said, something shocking happened – something his tax attorney has never heard of in his entire career. Root was hit with a new audit just five days later, for 2009 and 2010.

“That order had to come from the highest levels of government,” he asserted.

“Obama is using the power of the IRS and other government agencies to punish his political opposition and intimidate and silence his critics,” Root charged.

Root has been a relentless critic of Obama in more than 4,000 appearances on political talk shows on TV and radio over the past four years, focusing on what he calls the president’s anti-business and anti-capitalist policies. He also writes ........

from the article..."The IRS national media office told WND that Section 6103 of the tax code prohibits the agency from discussing matters relating to any taxpayer. "

But appearantly there's no "section" that prohibits the IRS being used as personal whipping boys for politicians. I remember Klinton sicking these federal dogs on his critics the same way Obummer does. Shameful!

The IRS should be shut down. As an arm of the thug government that our Founders never intended, It is a threat to freedom.

I’m not sure that it has anything to do with the president pushing the IRS to do these things.
Gov’t employees tend to be leftists anyway, and IRS employees have a power trip anyway.

So, either GOP presidents think this is way beyond the pale to do (since you never hear of it), or the IRS agents make these decisions based on their political proclivities.

The IRS should be a ‘creature of Congress’ not the Executive Branch.......

Positions of unaccountable power over others attract leftists like moths to a porchlight.

Even under the thumb of Congress, the oversight would be selective, and the actual actions of the leftists in those positions would always tend to be pro-leftist/government and anti-conservative/individual.

Calling for Congressional hearings won't get it done. After the Fast and Furious hearings, the DOJ dismissals of the charges and findings against the NBPP and the contempt finding against Eric Holder, it is clear that the Obama Regime doesn't care what Congress says or does and that Congress lacks the will to exercise the power of the purse to stop them. Unless Congress exercises real power or Obama is defeated by Romney, Obama is moving toward making Congress a subordinate branch of government.

US Constitution Article 1 Section 8:

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

ONLY the Congress can collect taxes, not the EXECUTIVE branch..........

The IRS, Treasury and Justice are, however, under the Executive Branch.

Small business people I know, who are outspoken and politically active Tea Party Republicans are experiencing this sort of thing. Being one day late with an employee SS/Medicare quarterly payment triggered an exhaustive audit. The lateness was due to Post Office working hours. The business’ accountant advised them to hire an experienced attorney (cost is over $5k as of last summer)because the accountant stated they had never before seen this sort of aggressive anal exam over literally nothing.

Prior to this, their company had lost all government contracts despite years of such contracts being completed in time and under budget.

It is harassment and has nothing to do with any wrong-doing.

The IRS is a collection arm of the corrupt and foreign federal reserve, plain and simple. Incorporated as a business in Puerto Rico by the way.

Interesting info.

Where can we find out more about how this is structured?

Thanks.

I was audited in 2011 for tax years 2009 and 2010. I had filed returns since 1971 and had never been audited. The difference! I contributed over the reportable limit to a republican candidate in 2010. The IRS auditor of course said that that had nothing to do with the audit. Liars.

Unfortunately, the IRS and FBI have been used for harrassment by several presidents.

16,000 more IRS employees are in the process of being hired to “administer” Obamacare. I’m afraid we will undergo massive intrusion into our lives. There’s no way the IRS should be used to police Obamacare, because, it’s not a tax, Right?
