News Flash: Debate Was Beneath Obama
NRO The Corner ^ | October 8, 2012 | Rich Lowry

From the New York Times:

Mr. Obama does not like debates to begin with, aides have long said, viewing them as media-driven gamesmanship. He did not do all that well in 2008 but benefited from Senator John McCain’s grumpy performances. Mr. Obama made clear to advisers that he was not happy about debating Mr. Romney, whom he views with disdain. It was something to endure, rather than an opportunity, aides said.

Millions think Obummer’s presidency is “something to endure,” and we are praying fervently for deliverance.

It kills me that these idiots think the “game “ is beneath them. they understand the rules, the requirements and the costs of failure before they enter the race. Well as they say in the south, “If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch’! This is the first time that Obama hasn't had the door pulled open and held open for him. In almost every campaign except 2 Obama had an edge. The petitions for running for office that invalidated, released divorce papers, etc. When Obama ran against Clinton he played the race card and the press, rooted for Obama. Now he has to stand up to someone that is smart, capable and has a good record with no skeletons in his closet to pull out. Obama has spent $100 million denigrating Romney with lies and that money was lost in one debate. Of course Romney isn't worthy to be on the same stage as Obama, let alone in the same room!

It amuses me, in a way, how ozero tries to make the last physical contact to patronize whomever he is with shaking hands. It’s dominance thing he attempts every time, with every handshake and introduction, which reveals what an insecure man he really is.

As someone said recently, Romney could hold a CEO position with almost any corporation out there; Obama isn’t qualified to clean the toilets of those same corporations.

I ‘kind of’ agree with this statement.

That said, you would think that once a narcissist/bully would agree to participate he would do EVERYTHING in his power to destroy his opponent - that is his ‘personality’ - then again if he is nothing but a faux pResident, he is not capable of ‘destroying’ an opponent, at least not on his own.

Of course, I also think that if I am way ahead etc, it doesn’t behoove me to give you an opportunity to ‘catch up’.
When G Allen ran against J Webb in VA, all he had to do for the victory was kiss babies and raise money.
He (’they’) decided to put Webb in the same category as J Kerry and then there was that ‘makaka’ thing. So we end up with a “D” Senator - who although he says he agrees with US, also took the straight party line when it really counted.

My grandsons were supposed to face off for the first time (3 yr age difference) in baseball but, for some reason one didn’t get to pitch against the other.
The younger one had absolutely NOTHING to lose, if he didn’t get a hit, who expected more? And if he did get a hit, he would never let the older one ‘live it down’. Reverse situation with younger one pitching and you have the same result.

I feel the same way about Hussein, I endure him.

Someone in my sewing group asked me if I “hate” Obama. I told her, “No. I’d have to like him a whole lot more to bring it up to the level of ‘hate’.” I told her that no word exists in the English language to describe how I feel about him.

not so with a narcissist....they come to the situation already thinking they are superior....my dad has NPD...comes at every situation thinking he is completely right....every single time......couple that with someone that thinks they know everything and you have a taste of what these soul-less folks are wrestling

he told me recently "Ive never made a mistake"....I quickly pointed out that in saying such a thing, he had, and congratulated him for being Christs brother.....

What they would probably like to say is that debates are so "white," in the Western tradition of logic and procedures. Expecting Obama (who is black) to be good at debating is unfair, and ... racist.

Authenticity seems to produce humility, not arrogance. Soft-spoken, learned men like Lt. Col. West--men of bravery and accomplishment who understand the value of freedom and recognize tyranny cloaked with little but a smile--these men do not consider other men to be "beneath" them.

With that said, now might be a good time for us to review Dr. Russell Kirk's "The Conservative Mind, which can be read online, by the way.

In Kirk's last chapter he reviews works of some poets and writers, quoting lines which now bear a striking resemblance to certain players on the stage in American politics today.

For instance, in Robert Frost's "A Case for Jefferson," Frost writes of the character "Harrison":

"Harrison loves my country too
But wants it all made over new.
. . . .
He dotes on Saturday pork and beans.
But his mind is hardly out of his teens.
With him the love of country means
Blowing it all to smithereens
And having it made over new."

The pseudointellectuals who occupy the White House, the media, and much of Congress fancy themselves "intellectuals."

By their words and actions, however, they display a provinciality reminiscent of that Dr. Kirk recalls as having been described by T. S. Eliot--a provinciality of time and place, having no intellectual grounding in ideas older than their own little experience in dabbling and discussing Mao, Marx, and other theoreticians.

America's written Constitution deserves protectors whose minds are out of their teens in terms of their understanding of civilization's long struggle for liberty.

It certainly deserves protectors who do not consider it a "flawed" document because it does not permit the government it structures to run rough shod over the rights of its "KEEPERS, the People" (Justice Story).

Blasting it "all to smithereens" seems to be the goal of the regressive "progressives" who currently control the Executive Branch and Senate in America.

If Obama views a multimillionaire with disdain, one can only imagine what he thinks of ordinary Americans.

Thanks, smoothsailing, for mentioning Anita Dunn. That is an important point, for it links the philosophy and philosopher whose influence is being felt throughout America today, but whose ideas are hidden behind a broad smile and a misleading promise of "caring."

Does anyone remember this remark from early November 2008? "At a Virginia rally -— 'If you’ll stand with me, then I know that we can win Virginia and we can win this election and we can finally bring the change we need to Washington,' Obama told the estimated crowd of 35,000. 'I feel like we got a righteous wind at our backs here.'

Then, there is this quote from Chairman Mao:

“The ill wind of opportunism is falling, the righteous wind of socialism is on the rise.”

In light of recent events, is it just possible that Anita Dunn wrote the remarks for the Virginia rally? After all, he is her "go to" philosopher.

There is no wonder that she has resurfaced as a debate prepper. After all, her "pupil" might forget some of Chairman Mao's best lines!

The ideas of Mao and Marx are the ideas of tyranny, and they are antithetical to the ideas of liberty as lived out in the lives of America's Founders, including Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison.

“Now, my countrymen, if you have been taught doctrines which conflict with the great landmarks of the Declaration of Independence…let me entreat you to come back. Return to the fountains whose waters spring close to the blood of the Revolution.” (Abraham Lincoln)
