Didn’t you bump into folks going the other way??!

Orient Point - that’s out a ways.
The north shore beaches I was at were Oyster Bay (not that much), not THAT far from Queens out on the north shore.
Going east, there was Huntington, Northport, and Sunken Meadow, east of Northport. It’s Sunken Meadow I mostly have the ‘seeing CT’ memory.

EB is Electric Boat. The “race”. Race Rock Light. I am not entirely sure why they call it “the race”, other than the currents in it being very dangerous. It is part of the Eastern entrance to the Long Island Sound. The “race” is between Orient Point and Fisher’s Island, which is just North of Block Island and Montauk.

I came up here when I was stationed on a submarine.
