I’ve worked with the standard packaging equipment, usually Ishida-type statistical weighers and a bagmaker of some sort. Between the weigher and the bagmaker, there’s a “mass detector” that will detect lumps of wet material and metal. Something or somebody must have screwed up. I’ve been part of holds and retrievals, but have never had to go through an actual RECALL (customer recall) process.

Since they're calling the alleged contaminant "flexible metal mesh", I'm going to guess they had a rotex screen disintegrate on them.

There are typically a couple more safety layers between the rotex and packaged product, i.e. magnets/metal detectors.

At this point I'm assuming they haven't recovered all the pieces of screen yet. The chances of finding any of this in your cereal are infinitesimally small.

Who cares... ALL their cereals have lost the quality and taste these days.

Even cattle would turn away from their cereals and they used to be best.

These mini-wheats probably got supplies from the same folks making counterfeit air bags that spit out metal shards

In one test, a counterfeit bag shot flames and shards of metal at a crash dummy.
