It doesn't matter if he comes across as an ass. The dem strategy is to counter Obama's wimpfest by "appearing" to be macho and alpha male. Content is irrelevant to them. It is about perception. They figure they already won the debate because Joe will act tough. The words don't matter ... to them. It fires up their base. However to independents words do matter. My guess is the spin will be that Biden trounced Ryan no matter what Ryan says.
