While Paul Ryan showed his nerves in Thursdays debate by drinking enough water to be a camel, vice president Joe Bidens performance was marked by clown faces, grimaces, and smiles, debate expert and pollster Matt Towery tells Newsmax.
His facial reactions were like that of a novice debater, who was in his first debate round perhaps in junior varsity, observed Towery in an exclusive interview. I mean continuing to make clown faces, and grimaces and smiles. Thats going to be what people are talking about tomorrow.

No one probably imagined that he would interpret a smile as being just an out and out uncontrollable sort of toothy smile that overwhelmed the camera and the shaking of the head that seemed to be just plain disrespectful, said Towery, who was former House Speaker Newt Gingrichs first debate coach. And if anyone had any idea, that they intended to go split camera, he should have been much better prepared as to how he was going to respond to that.

Ryan really comes away with more from that debate, said Towery, who noted that the Obama campaign had attempted to portray Ryan as somehow not only to the right of Romney, but somehow dangerously to the right sort of a wildman."
Ryan came into the debate very controlled, said Towery. "If anything he was a little bit more subdued.

For a guy whos 42 years old to be subdued is about the only way to keep from appearing to appear almost immature, said Towery. Had he been bouncing around all over the place in that debate it would not have come across as him being the aggressor. It would have come across as him being a neophyte and wet behind the ears.

this debate is already forgotten....
Going in I thought a big risk for Obama was that Biden would come to be seen as the smart one on the ticket. They managed to avoid falling into that trap.
If I had Biden’s money, I could laugh at anything also. How does a lifetime in “public service” pay so well?
We have under a month but there's still time to replace Biden.
He is, to use a Democratofascist "Term' ~ S C A R E Y
How does a lifetime in public service pay so well?
I also wondered why someone would spend $15-$20 million dollars to win a job that pays $175,000 per year. And then we found out about this scandal last year — Congress has exempted itself from insider-trading laws:

An outrage!
Creepy.
Come on folks...its called respect, sophistication and manners. Yes, manners even in a debate. If you need a replacement for Big Bird then Joes your man. If you think its time to put a statesman back to help lead this great Nation in these troubled times then Ryan clearly was the winner.
He didn’t get the veneer on his lower teeth. You can see how yellow they are.
I suspect not. Once the reruns start happening it’s going to put Biden in a bad light. The RNC already has a great commercial on it.
"Going in I thought a big risk for Obama was that Biden would come to be seen as the smart one on the ticket. They managed to avoid falling into that trap."
I wonder sometimes if Obama chose Biden for VP in large part because he's such a buffoon. Obama, like most Narcissists, views himself as the smartest man that ever lived- but at the same time, he doesn't like anyone to challenge this pristine view (and he struggles hard to control his inner rage in the rare occasions when anyone does challenge him). Having a credible, intelligent VP would actually be a threat to Obama's view of himself... so he chose Biden.
All you have to do in a debate with liberals is make screwy clown faces, then you win.
The strategy must have been to make Obummer look like the voice of reason.
Exactly, I was waiting for Ryan to ask the moderator for a restroom break.
And the way Gore would sigh - as if just talking to a conservative was too demeaning for him. I hated Gore for that ... every eye roll was also meant for me - for my family and for people like me.
Gore was insulting.
Almost as insulting as Biden was last night toward Ryan and all conservatives.
"The strategy must have been to make Obummer look like the voice of reason."
Maybe so.
But at the same time, I think Biden's arrogant rudeness significantly undercuts Obama's rhetoric that his ticket will work with the opposition party (which of course is an absolute joke, in reality).
When his own VP is sneering away and deriding everything his opponent is saying- regardless of the substance or seriousness of the issue, it begs the question, how are Democrats going to work with Republicans when the Dems obviously aren't willing to listen to a single thing Republicans have to say? The Dems have failed time and time again the last four years... yet, they are obstinately opposed to any new solutions.
Yep, Paul Ryan vs. Jackass the Clown.
