Author Ed Klein: As Benghazi blame nears Hillary, Clintons grow furious

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller, Klein said sources close to the Clintons tell him that Bill Clinton has assembled an informal legal team to discuss how the Secretary of State should deal with the issue of being blamed for not preventing the Benghazi terrorist attack last month.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters during a press conference Friday that responsibility for the consulate in Libya fell on the State Department, not the White House.

If blame for the security failures falls to Hillary Clinton, Klein said, it’s possible that she would even consider resigning over the issue.

“Bill is working on a number of strategies about what Hillary ought to do. He’s even gone so far as to play with various doomsday scenarios including up to the idea that Hillary would consider resigning over the issue if the Obama team tries to use her as a scapegoat,” Klein told TheDC in an interview.

Thanks for that link. I hadn't seen that story at all. Clapper has a problem with his version of things. In the Oversight Committee it came out that DAS Lamb (and presumably others) were getting real-time info, including security video feeds, from the Benghazi consulate and there was no indication of any activity, much less protests, prior to the military style assault.

If that's the best he can come up with maybe he should go back to Australia.

This is a huge mess and we are only seeing 5% of it.

Who are the guys that made the film? Who were they working for, in other words, who paid for the film to be made? Who uploaded the trailer to youtube and why? Who sent the copy to the Egyptian cleric and why? What was the ambassador doing in Benghazi without any security on 9/11? Was he being set up? By whom? For what purpose? Why did the White House stick to the ridiculous cover story for weeks? Why is the administration picking a fight with the Clintons a few weeks before the election?

May I add:

Why is Petraeus apparently (in effect) letting himself and his people take the hit for this?

This whole thing is strange from the getgo. The film story was too pat. First whiff of it comes out of Cairo Embassy. Dems jump on it, filmmaker hauled off in the middle of the night. Leaks, lies, worldwide demonstrations.

That’s not a bad attempt to connect the dots at all. You rightly point out that it’s a big mystery why they pushed so hard to shift blame to a half-baked video no one had seen. Also right that it was bound to fall apart. Something was/is being covered up by that and no one has come up with anything that really makes sense.
