WOW WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would rather have a candidate who may occasionally put his foot in his mouth than a candidate who continually puts her hand in my pocketbook. Any day. I’m proud to be a conservative. You can have the Republican party.

Thanks for the ping, Perdogg.

I'm still no fan of Akin, but I hope he wins. He's obviously better than the alternative, McCaskill...

I happened to be watching the Akin interview that Sunday morning and was not taken aback by his “notorious comments”. I understood Akin’s words to imply forced rape, as opposed to statutory rape.

And as a woman, I understand the complex female reproductive system and am aware that impending ovulation may possibly be delayed or halted during an occurrence of stress or trauma. This could certainly include the horror of rape. For those who question the rational of Akin’s tenet, there are medical sources to substantiate his comments…….

Important Facts to Know About Ovulation:
An egg (ovum) lives 12-24 hours after leaving the ovary.
Normally only one egg is released each time of ovulation.
Ovulation can be affected by stress, illness or disruption of normal routines.
http://netwellness.org/healthtopics/pregnancy/pregmenstrualcycle.cfm

Stress can definitely interfere with conception.
That’s because stress can affect the functioning of the hypothalamus — the gland in the brain that regulates your appetite and emotions, as well as the hormones that tell your ovaries to release eggs. If you’re stressed out, you may ovulate later in your cycle or not at all.
It’s important to differentiate between constant and sudden stress. The body often acclimates to constant, everyday stresses, so you’ll probably ovulate fairly consistently each cycle. It’s sudden stress — a death in the family, an accident, divorce — that can throw your cycle off and interfere with ovulation.

The Science of Stress and Fertility
Pisarska tells WebMD that the effects of stress may be different for each woman.
“Stress may cause one set of reactions in one woman, and something else in another, so ultimately the reasons behind how or why stress impacts fertility may also be very individual,” says Pisarska.
While doctors may not know the exact links between stress and fertility, a series of studies shows the impact is hard to ignore.

Stress and Fertility
By Michael C. Darder, MD & Susan L. Treiser, MD, PhD
Q. Can emotional stress affect fertility?
A. Severe stress can prevent ovulation, and that, of course, makes it impossible to get pregnant. Significant stress can affect the hormones in the brain that direct egg development; the eggs stop growing and there’s no ovulation.

Todd Akin’s gaffe was not worthy of destruction of his political career. He did not do anything illegal or immoral or malicious. He did not deliberately disparage women who were impregnated by rape. His words were sadly misconstrued by some people and deliberately distorted by political operatives in efforts to affect the November election.

“If Akin wins, for the first time in my life, I will be embarassed to be a republican.”

Speak for yourself.

Akin will win, fair and square. In doing so, he will have not only beaten the odds against the media and the democrats, he will have beaten the GOP-e “establishment”, and he will owe them nothing.

I sense he’ll do fine as a Senator. Better than MOST of the so-called “Republicans” already in D.C.

I’m embarrassed that you are on FR. We didn’t used to have people that swilled gallons of media kool-aid and then attempted to regurgitate it as thoughtful comments on FR.

Amen.

You do realize that Akin stated a scientific fact: that the majority of rape cases do not, I repeat, do not result in pregnancy, it is very rare for pregnancy to result from rape! You make Karl Rove smile, and the Democrats too, God help this nation if the Democrats have control of the purse strings!

I wont be embarrassed by Akin. I will be happy he won, that he didnt back down and that at least one Republican had courage to stay the course, and not be hounded by leftists.

I argued that Akin should drop out because I thought the other available candidates would have a better chance to win.

But now that he is in you simply have to support him because the alternative is Claire. You do understand that, don’t you? Saying that you would be embarrassed if Akin wins is tantamount to saying you prefer Claire, and that would mean you are not a Republican/Conservative and/or not seeing the bigger picture.

That’s okay. The rest of us feel that way from every RINO you’ve helped.

By the way, I do thank you for that to the extent that its helped move more conservative perspectives, forward.

Don’t go over that limit. I may disagree with you, but I sure don’t want you in jail.

We can agree to disagree.

You're embarrassed about one gaffe?

I realize what he said was really dumb, and particularly dumb considering the democrat talking point about the war on women, but what about that can't you forget at this point?

He stuck it out (fwiw, I thought he should have stepped aside for another conservative earlier), now he's the official candidate, he's conservative, and the alternative is an Obamunist leftist pretending she really isn't. What in the world are you thinking?

It is you who fails to see the bigger picture. Right now there are about 1/3 repubs, 1/3 dems and 1/3 ind. For the good of the US, we need to win over some ind and dem to our side. When the media puts Akin on TV (and you know he will be their favorite guest), we will lose people to the dems.

Kucinich and al sharpton costs his side votes every day.

Foley cost us dearly in 2006 even though he did not break any laws.

Akin as senator will cost us more than McCaskill as senator.

I would agree 100% but this decision is for the voters of MO. If I had to guess I think that this poll has it correct.

If I remember correctly Senator Tom Coburn of Nebraska was painted as an extreme right-wing, anti-abortion zealot that could NEVER function in the Senate. Lo and behold, he turns out to be one of the most honest and thoughtful Senators serving today.

Todd Akin will never vote to approve a SC Justice who is not Conservative and Pro-Life. McCaskill will vote for an ultra Liberal, Pro- Abortion Justice. What don’t you understand about that?

Thanks for the ping, Katie.

Yes, we are seeing what I already knew would be happening as we got closer to the election. It doesn't take massive funding to win an election, especially when your opponent is the most evil, corrupt, arrogant, obama clone that thought she could count on Missourians forgetting how she stuck it to us by being the 60th vote to pass Obamacare in 2010. That and all the other evil things she did to us that you have so eloquently pointed out in your many posts.

Those who view Todd as a loser or stupid or a drag on Romney's campaign are the true losers on this site. Not only are they giving aid and comfort to the enemy by their negative comments about Todd, they are violating the basic rule of this site which Jim established as a true conservative site. The liberal site can be found at DU.

For those who just recently, on 10/4, pointed out that McCrackle was leading by 6 points and had little faith in Todd overcoming such a lead with little or no backing need to think again after, now, seeing him with almost a full 4 point lead.

Those who just plain don't kike Todd for various reasons. You don't have a clue what is about to happen to this country. We are facing the most evil administration in all history that if reelected and keeps control of the senate, will have the ability to turn this country into a full blown socialist and possibly communist republic. Do you really think that not voting for Todd and allowing the very possibility of letting the dems keep the senate is worth that? Even if Mitt wins, he needs the senate to defeat Obamacare and all the other evil legislation that Obama has sneaked through during the past 4 years.

For those who missed the first debate or just didn't care, we have another debate coming up on 10/18 between Todd and the evil witch. I truly believe Todd will win that one just like he won the first which will give him an even greater bump in the polls.

Faith and prayer are more powerful than empty and negative rhetoric. We are in a war against evil right now and we are in it to win. Keep the faith my FRiends.
