Move USPS into Chapter 11 as soon as possible. Reorganize it into something that is viable, and prevent the postal unions from raping the taxpayers.
Focus on protecting federal taxpayers from efforts to socialize failure, as in the case of GM/Chrysler, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, AMTRAK, California's reckless high speed rail plan, etc., etc. etc.
Actually implement the "transparency" that Obama campaigned on in 2008, but never took a step toward enacting.
Foster an environment in which every proposed new federal expenditure is evaluated by a serious benefit/cost analysis.
Get the federal government out of funding/subsidizing applied technologies (Solyndra, A123, etc., etc., etc.) The federal government does not understand new applied technologies, and will never do a good job of sorting out winners and losers. Continue federal assistance to basic research.
Explore application of new technologies and new methods for securing the sovereignty of the United States by having some actual control and practical knowledge of who is within and without the United States. Our border control and immigration enforcement is a bad joke, and someday we will pay an enormous cost, perhaps dwarfing 9/11, for not having secure borders.

Czar for Immigration

Czar for the Press.
A Czar for each Lib Non-Profit organization.
A Czar for each University.
Czar for the Sierra Club
Czar for the Southern Poverty Law Center
A Czar for each class action lawsuit attorney.

Fire the Joint Chiefs and their deputies, go to the lower ranks 05-07, select for almost entirely in the trenches, operational mission experience vice staff experience and then jump promote them over the rest of the pack into the top positions. It is time to clean house. I made the same comments back when Bush II was elected and his path might have been a bit smoother if he had been rid of all clinton loyalists.
