It Looks Like We’ve Discovered Gloria Allred’s Romney-Bashing October Surprise
The Gateway Pundit ^ | 10/21/12 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 10/21/2012 12:33:51 PM PDT by Nachum

On Friday Drudge teased that far left sensationalist Gloria Allred was about to drop a bomb on the Romney Campaign.

Allred has a reputation of dragging perceived female victims in front of the camera as props to bash Republican candidates. In October 2010 Allred dragged out illegal alien Nicki Diaz to attack heartless Meg Whitman. Minaj was upset Whitman didn’t buy her child a present and claimed Meg took advantage of her despite the fact she made a good wage. In November 2011 she dragged out Sharon Bialek who accused Herman Cain of sexual abuse.

So it is likely this year’s October surprise is Carrel Hilton Sheldon, a former Mormon.

The book Horror Stories: Mitt Romney’s Shameful Record with Mormon Women details Mitt Romney’s “psychological intimidation and bullying” during his role as a Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The report describes how Romney “tried to bully” Carrel Hilton Sheldon when she was suffering through a difficult pregnancy into not having an abortion. AlterNet reported:

A far more ominous tale in the Romney canon also took place that summer, one that has been largely swept under the rug as the former governor of Massachusetts challenges incumbent Barack Obama for the presidency. There have been no songs written about it, no cartoons, no gags on late-night television, no magazine covers.

It was in August of that year, shortly after the Romney family returned from their vacation to Lake Huron, that a pregnant woman in her late 30s—Carrel Hilton Sheldon—was informed

Obviously you didn’t even read the statements before you named them as pimps.

They ARE talking about his record of actions as Governor... and THEY were the pro-life advocates who worked with him for years in Massachusetts.

Why not go straight to the horses mouth? The record itself?

Endorsments don't mean ANYTHING. NRL endorsed McCain last time around regardless of his record too (which, btw, is poor). So did NRA.

Go look up his record too, while you are at it. Then maybe you will see how you are being bamboozled.

Why not rely on his record? what are you afraid of?

Spare me the Mormon counseling a Mormon to spare their child. That is not true and I believe you know it.

Lol, of course that is true, that was all Mormon, as far as Reagan, you refuse to back off from your attempt to portray him as having been pro-abortion, and as far as whether he signed the bill, how many times do I have to post on it for you to realize that we have been discussing it already.

Did you see post 255 and all my references and dating of him signing the legislation?

The "we" means freerepublic and all our years of dealing with the romneybot trolls that have gotten in trouble and admonished by the owner for being unable to layoff Reagan to prop up Romney.

This was posted before. It’s a stupid story that will never surpass the Benghazi incident. It might have been planned as the October surprise, but no one cares. It might even work in Romney’s favor, as many people have doubted Romney’s pro-life creds.

When it comes right down to it, women are security voters and Obama is not a high security kind of president. Abortion, free contraceptives and gay rights are issues for secure times, not right now.

Tamzee, I don't think you realize that politicians and desperate campaign endorsements, and all kinds of sweet talk can work with the less knowledgeable voters, that is why Romney and Obama and Bill Clinton, etc., can be different things to different people, at different times.

When it comes to something like abortion though, we can't just pretend that we don't have mountains of video, and speeches, and direct personal declarations from Mitt himself on his pro-abortion commitment.

Now this isn't a letter signed by someone who sees Mitt as the lessor of two evils in an election, this is Mitt himself.

"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country; I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate," Romney said

Your post 255 was a reiteration..nothing new.

You still didn’t answer the question.

Looks like you have been on Free Republic about six months longer than I have. So what?

I am not a troll any more than you are. I haven’t called anyone a liar, troll, mentally ill, creepy, etc. like you have.

I am not “propping” up Romney.

We are debating a point. If I get “in trouble”..so be it.

OK, you said look up his record. I did, here it is, his pro-life, anti-abortion actions as Governor.

Governor Romney was presented with legislation concerning life issues on several occasions from the 85% majority Democrat Legislature in Massachusetts. In every instance he took the pro-life position by vetoing bills or lobbying for the pro-life approach, including the following actions:

He vetoed the bill providing state funding for human embryonic stem cell research
(Theo Emery, “Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Vetoes Stem Cell Bill,” The Associated Press, 5/27/2005)

He vetoed a bill that provided for the “morning after pill” without a prescription because it is an abortifacient and would have been available to minors without parental notification and consent

(Governor Mitt Romney, Op-Ed, “Why I Vetoed Contraception Bill,” The Boston Globe, 7/26/2005)

He pledged to veto any bill that would expand access to RU-486, the abortion pill

(Hugh Hewitt, “Interview with Governor Romney,” The Hugh Hewitt Show, 7/27/2005)

He vetoed legislation which would have redefined Massachusetts longstanding definition of the beginning of human life from fertilization to implantation

(Governor Mitt Romney, Letter To The Massachusetts State Senate And House Of Representatives, 5/12/2005)

He supported parental notification laws and opposed efforts to weaken parental involvement

(John McElhenny, “O’Brien And Romney Spar In Last Debate Before Election,” The Associated Press, 10/29/2002)

He fought to promote abstinence education in public school classrooms with a program offered by faith-based Boston group Healthy Futures to middle school students. Gov. Romney’s administration was the first in Massachusetts to use federal abstinence education funds for classroom programs.

(Office of Gov. Mitt Romney, “Romney Announces Award of Abstinence Education Contract,” Press Release, 4/20/2006)

Governor Romney: “Times of decision are moments of great clarity. Before I was Governor, the life issue was just that, an issue. But when responsibility for life or ending life was placed in my hands, I made the right decision. I chose life.”

(Governor Mitt Romney, Remarks At The National Right To Life Convention Forum, Kansas City, MO, 6/15/2007)

Your turn. Let’s see you post pro-life legislation that Romney ever vetoed, or any pro-abortion bill that Romney ever signed. And don’t try to claim Romneycare because the word abortion does NOT appear anywhere in the bill he signed.

Don’t dodge... I posted a number of pro-life bills Romney signed, and anti-life bills Romney vetoed.

You keep insisting he is pro-choice... post proof because I gave a great deal proving you wrong. Post one pro-abortion legislation Romney signed, or pro-life legislation Romney vetoed.

We aren’t debating any point.

Unless you are admitting that you are doing exactly what I have been saying that you have been doing, trying to portray Reagan as having been pro-abortion in his past, is that the debate?

You posted the campaigning Romney, the 2005 presidential candidate Mitt Romney, the Mitt Romney who received permission that year from the Mormon Prophet to run for president.

He lied about having become pro-life.

In August after winning the nomination, Romney rejected the pro-life party platform and returned to his pro-abortion position.

Did Reagan sign pro abort legislation?

I never said he was pro choice. It’s a fairly simple question. Not that I think you will answer it without a Because...

No, I posted his ACTIONS while GOVERNOR... all on the pro-life side.

Go on... post all of his pro-abortion actions while Governor. He signed and vetoed thousands of bills while in office.

And you are blatantly lying when you claim “Romney rejected the pro-life party platform”. He merely stated that he agreed with rape, incest and life-of-the mother exceptions. That does not equate to rejecting “a pro-life party platform” and it is disgusting that you deliberately distort anyone’s statements like that.

This is freaky strange and must be related to drinking or something, how many times do you want to keep posting that Reagan signed that bill in the 1960s, how many times do you want me to comment on it?

It isn't relevant, Reagan was never pro-abortion, and Romney was never pro-life.

So far here are some of my mentions of it, I even filled you in on information about it.

*"Reagan regretted it immediately when he saw what was being done with the bill that he signed in 1966, in his first months in office."

*"A bill that was to the right of Mitt’s current position on abortion, the bill said “health” but with strict interpretation needing a medical committee, within months doctors were being called before the boards for violating the law."

*"By the way, to correct my previous post, it was 1967, not 1966 when Reagan signed the bill, Mitt had only been committed to being pro-abortion for 4 years, and the abortion wars were only just starting with RoeVwade coming up and decades of battles and elections to go, Mitt was on the pro-abortion side for all of those decades."

You posted the presidential candidates NEW stuff from when he had already started running for president in 2005.

As far as rejecting the pro-life GOP party platform, why do you call it lying when we have Mitt Romney's own quotes?

CBS interview, August 27, 2012.
PELLEY: Well, the platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?

ROMNEY: No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother.

Thanks for the avoidance of a ping, I can imagine that you do lean heavily to insults over substance.

That post you liked was totally wrong and responded to in post 159, Tamzee has a limited posting style of mostly to call direct quotes from Romney “lies”

“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country; I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate,” Romney said

It was a pure admiration of the wording. I would’ve liked it just as much if it came from you, too. Hence no ping.

So, to sum up... your insistence that he is “pro-abortion” is backed only by endlessly regurgitating ancient and/or distorted quotes.

My insistence that is “pro-life” is backed up by years of bill signing and vetoing that is consistently pro-life, as well as a long list of testimonials from pro-life activists in Massachusetts that his decisions as governor were pro-life in every regard.

You lose. Do not pass Go, Do not collect your $200 from Obama’s campaign payroll.
