Friedman Contends Benghazi Controversy ‘Utterly Contrived,’ Stephanopoulos Hails White House

New York Times foreign affairs columnist Tom Friedman, who three weeks ago derided Mitt Romney for how he “acts...as if he learned his foreign policy at the International House of Pancakes,” on Sunday’s Meet the Press dismissed concerns over how the Obama administration handled Benghazi before and after the attacks. “To me,” he declared, “this is an utterly contrived story in the sense that ‘this is the end of,’ you know, ‘Obama’s foreign policy.’”

Over on ABC’s This Week, host George Stephanopoulos ludicrously argued: “Hasn’t the White House been relatively transparent?”

He justified his contention, in the question he cued up guest panelist Van Jones: “We learned over the weekend that even the talking points that Ambassador Rice received on that Sunday morning from the CIA suggested there was no pre-planning.”

Friedman maintained during the panel on the October 21 Meet the Press:

It’s obviously been totally politicized at this point. I lived in a civil war in Beirut for 40 years, these are incredibly messy situations. People don’t show up with uniforms....You can have a flash mob turned into a planned thing. You can have planned people inside of a flash mob. To me, this is an utterly contrived story in the sense that, “this is the end of,” you know, “Obama’s foreign policy.”

Later, when panelists were asked to elucidate the question they’d pose at Monday night’s upcoming third presidential debate, Friedman lived up to type, repeating his mantra about the wonders of a carbon tax:

The ‘RATS appear to be very concerned over Benghazi-gate.

I’ll tell you what’s utterly contrived: Tom Friedman’s standing as an authority on any subject whatsoever.

I wish someone would ask J. Gordon Carney at the next press briefing what the administration’s latest “modified limited hangout” was, but I guess it will never happen.

Friedman is a moron with diarrhea of the pen. Likewise for Krugman. These two like Tweedledum and Tweedledee appear every Sunday in our local leftist rag.

Shouldn’t the media be investigative JOURNALISTS, instead of WHORES for their party?

Liberals are utterly incapable of offering even a basis for honest debate.

There is no dealing with them.

T Friedman lost his credibility quite a long time ago.
His articles and statements are almost all propaganda now.
(And very distorted about foreign and defense matters especially)

we should make a list or contest of the top 10 or 20 left wing bullshit slingers (flingers?)... the ones that can counted on to ignore facts, law, constitution, American interests or values, you name it...

and maybe give award(s)?

Obama should resign

If he does, history will forget about him. If he fights he will be damned forever.

TOTALLY disagree.

Thomas Friedman is better than any human being in recorded history at authoritatively compressing a ten word idea into a mere two chapters of text.

Yeah, so was the Watergate "coverup" to run Nixon from office. I guess liberals only like contrived stories when they make up and control the narrative.

Lets see. So far Stevens murder has been called:

1) Peripheral

2) Not optimal.

And concern about his murder and non-protection is now “contrived” and “playing politics.”

We need to name this something that gets folks attention.

I would suggest slaughter-gate.

That’s how the Dems get the media’s attention. Why not play this one by their rules.

We failed to protect them. They were slaughtered.

Obama couldn’t be bothered to save them, but he claims he’ll fix it. Having a president to attends his national security briefings would tend to do that. Since he has proven he won’t, we’ll get someone who will.

Adios oBambi.
