Friedman Contends Benghazi Controversy ‘Utterly Contrived,’ Stephanopoulos Hails White House

New York Times foreign affairs columnist Tom Friedman, who three weeks ago derided Mitt Romney for how he “acts...as if he learned his foreign policy at the International House of Pancakes,” on Sunday’s Meet the Press dismissed concerns over how the Obama administration handled Benghazi before and after the attacks. “To me,” he declared, “this is an utterly contrived story in the sense that ‘this is the end of,’ you know, ‘Obama’s foreign policy.’”

Over on ABC’s This Week, host George Stephanopoulos ludicrously argued: “Hasn’t the White House been relatively transparent?”

He justified his contention, in the question he cued up guest panelist Van Jones: “We learned over the weekend that even the talking points that Ambassador Rice received on that Sunday morning from the CIA suggested there was no pre-planning.”

Friedman maintained during the panel on the October 21 Meet the Press:

It’s obviously been totally politicized at this point. I lived in a civil war in Beirut for 40 years, these are incredibly messy situations. People don’t show up with uniforms....You can have a flash mob turned into a planned thing. You can have planned people inside of a flash mob. To me, this is an utterly contrived story in the sense that, “this is the end of,” you know, “Obama’s foreign policy.”

Later, when panelists were asked to elucidate the question they’d pose at Monday night’s upcoming third presidential debate, Friedman lived up to type, repeating his mantra about the wonders of a carbon tax:

This should be politicized, and Romney should do everything in his power to inform the American voters, before Nov. 6th, just what their vote will define. It is his duty and responsibility. I can not think of a more vital issue facing the American people than the murders in Benghazi, what decisions or lack of, created this massive failure. But more importantly what kind of leader Barack Obama really is, before they vote for the same kind of policies that murdered four Americans.

Imagine Woodward and Bernstein helping Nixon cover up Watergate.

Contrived, Friedman?

The International House of Pancakes was a line used by Pat Buchanan in his 1992 speech to the Republican Convention to describe the closest thing that Bill Clinton got to having foreign policy experience.

Four dead Americans are just “bumps in the road” to the “reporters” too, apparently.

It’s contrived because none of those men were his brothers or his sons......how disgraceful to make such a statement! But, it’s no surprise. Those of us who are part of the American family care about 4 of our countrymen being murdered. And, we especially care when we learn that help may have been available to help save these men!

This tragedy gets worse and worse...WHO denied help and WHY wasn’t help sent???

My son-in-law gave me Tom Friedman’s book “The world is flat” not long after it came out. I thought it had some good observations, but his conclusions sucked.

I am not impress with Friedman.

Stupid Rats, no matter how they spin it, you cannot unsee that which has been seen.

The video’s are there. We all knew what happened the first hours of the assault.

The Obozo big lie about the video was/is stupid. It just does not hold water.

It took 2 weeks before they admitted there was no demonstration. Then they backtracked and said it was a terrorist attack, but not Al-Qaeda. (but it was an affiliate)

Then the stupid press picks up the lies to defend the impossible.

Welcome to Communist USA, where even Orwell blushes for the lies and doublespeak.

Nixon had 18 hours of missing tape, the Benghazi murder victims had 6 hours of missing POTUS and SecState while they listened to the murders.

Six hours of hundreds of people sitting on their hands witnessing terrorist dogs destroy our Consulate and our diplomats and Seals.

The German people thought that the nazis would give them utopia because the nazis had “a higher calling”. The higher calling turned out to be the smoke from burning Jews. The Democrats are liars and thiefs who come up with utopian baloney that gets Americans killed. How many dead Americans will it take before the new york times and ABC do their jobs and get after the Democrats? 4? 500? 7 million? What’s the number new york times? What’s the number ABC? Disney! Dead Americans can’t go to Disney World! What price silence, new york times? What price silence, ABC?

Yes they should be, but they aren’t.

There was a movie once with Clark Gable in it. It showed what the Media should be.

Today the only investigations made by the Media are those that suit their agenda of Socialism, Communism, Liberalism, and Marxism.

The Media we have today is totally untrustworthy.

Unworthy of the title, a “Free Press.”

Television is even worse.

I knew they’d be out on the Sunday shows talking up the latest backstepping intel source that asserts it was not “pre-planned”.

That’ll be Obama’s newest talking point tomorrow too.

Ian Cameron is Stephanopoulos’ executive producer.
He is also Susan Rice’s husband.

And if I recall correctly, also called a bump in the road. Wasn’t that a couple of weeks ago? The idiot has been so disrespectful and lied so frequently, its all becoming a blur.

This was the same show that had NY Times’ Helene Cooper calling the death of four Americans “peripheral”. I was screaming at the tv. And Murphy the Republican wasn’t really fighting back.
