Why I Was Wrong
news ^

Posted on 11/07/2012 7:02:07 AM PST by MNDude

I’ve got egg on my face. I predicted a Romney landslide and, instead, we ended up with an Obama squeaker. The key reason for my bum prediction is that I mistakenly believed that the 2008 surge in black, Latino, and young voter turnout would recede in 2012 to “normal” levels. Didn’t happen. These high levels of minority and young voter participation are here to stay. And, with them, a permanent reshaping of our nation’s politics. In 2012, 13% of the vote was cast by blacks. In 04, it was 11%. This year, 10% was Latino. In ’04 it was 8%. This time, 19% was cast by voters under 30 years of age. In ’04 it was 17%. Taken together, these results swelled the ranks of Obama’s three-tiered base by five to six points, accounting fully for his victory. I derided the media polls for their assumption of what did, in fact happen: That blacks, Latinos, and young people would show up in the same numbers as they had in 2008. I was wrong. They did.

Dearest dude, you simply bet on America, as she used to be. We loved that America. (I pledge to drop FOX News entirely, and keep up over on FOX Business channel.)

If we ever train our eye on the cause of a Marxist takeover and a soon to be shrunken military, we will find it right down the block— public education where we churn them out with regularity.

What do you do when we spend more on welfare and food stamps than defense, social security and Medicare. (Just heard that on Varney.)

The children of this nation are being force fed crap in schools to the point were they can tell you all the latest propaganda about global warming but have so little grasp of physical science as to be unable to tell why it is warm in the summer & cold in the winter & this includes COLLEGE GRADUATES ! Now do you understand how truly dire the situation is?

claims there were 14 million voters less, (even saying McCain got more Repub votes). I don’t believe it

I am beginning to believe it. I say that because when someone tells me they are unhappy about Obama the first thing I ask them is if they voted. Ask everyone you meet that is unhappy with the results if they voted...be prepared to start hearing excuses. I have heard plenty. The Republican party is not getting out the vote, I don't think they know how. That is something we all need to work hard at starting today. We need to encourage every like minded person we know or meet to be sure and get registered and make sure those "busy" people you know prepare ahead of time to be busy and plan to vote absentee.

We are failing at getting out the vote, and we can't win if we continue this way. The dims are a vote getting machine- yes I do believe there is some fraud but I also think they are far better at getting their legitimate voter to the polls as well.

We need to get people registered and willing to go vote before midterms. NOW is the time to get started and we are already far behind so we will need to hustle votes.

I agree. What in heck is so scary about Romney and how could he take away their birth control?

Hillary will likely be the competition, and an old, White guy will not have a chance against her.

Get a grip.

You're still wrong, MNDude. Read closely:

The GOP lost last night because Republicans didn't come out and vote for their candidate who ultimately did worse than McCain in 2008. He'd have won with McCain's numbers in the last election.

This is largely because conservative Republicans spent the better part of two years destroying their own candidate. Did you miss the fact that this was the sentiment of the FreeRepublic site owner himself? Look at what percentage of FR members refused to vote for Romney. It's probably about the same as the percentage of GOP no-shows in last night's election.

These stalwarts got precisely what they wanted because, yet again, Jesus Christ the messiah didn't show up as the GOP candidate. Some people will vote for nothing less. Ronald Reagan in 1976 couldn't get support around here.

Also, look no further than the quarterly Freepathon pledge indicator's progress over the last several quarters for another clue.

I would also not rule out that — we were assuming a lot of Obama voters from 2008 would cross over and vote for Romney. I think that most Obama supporters have an unusually high emotional component to why they support him, and they were especially unlikely to vote for Romney this year and admit that they were wrong.

They think they are part of a great cause that has to do with Obama as a person.

He will not be running for president in 2016. I suspect the game will be completely different then, watching the Democrats eat their own trying to pick a new candidate among several bad choices who will never be as popular as Obama was. Maybe they can drag out John Kerry again.

"I’m beginning to believe this whole thing was rigged from the beginning."

One day voting allows only for hit and run voter-fraud. Early voting allows for serial voter-fraud. And the GOP nationally and in too many states did nothing to protect the vote.

The GOP has allowed the Democrats to conduct US elections below the security standards of any other democracy. From "Foreign election officials amazed by trust-based U.S. voting system" (foreignpolicy.com - 11/6/12):

"One observer from Lebanon who did not want to be quoted pressed staffers on how the ballots are handled before and after voting day. He was amazed that ballots are sent directly to poll workers and that the handling of those ballots after the voting ends is also entrusted to local poll workers."
With poll workers being government apparatchiks and overwhelming (Democrat) Party loyalists, and the GOP record of inadequately monitoring prior elections, extending the voting from one day to weeks, massively increased the opportunity for tampering. And the Democrats again had no qualms about seizing an opportunity presented to them.

Don’t believe it Tammy....it’s crap. I’m here in uber-liberal NY....surrounded by people who voted for Obama last time. They didn’t vote for him this time. They were disappointed, and affected personally (adversely), by his policies.

Here in 2 precincts, this is what went on...one Republican precinct had African American poll workers. They held onto a white man’s ballot and told him they weren’t scanning it because they were waiting for more.
Later in the day, the scanning machine “broke” and ballots were put in a box. In NY, anyone was able to vote ANYWHERE. No id needed for any registered voters. One friend was displaced and she was able to walk into our polling station, sign an affadavit saying that she never voted, (showed no id) and scanned her vote no problem.

I believe massive voter fraud went on...the Republicans are to blame for not forcing a National Voter ID card.

Those that want will come after those that have...until it, possibly and eventually, creates a civil war (THE WANTS v.s. THE HAVES), and then the total collapse of “everything leftist”! It’s, probably, going to happen, and it’s, just, a matter of, exactly, when.

The only good thing about the left winning “big” is that they, only, have “excuses”, whenever they screw things up! That would be an, even, better tagline.

I do believe there was fraud, I also am convinced the Republicans did not get out their voters. I have talked to three ultra conservatives this morning that did NOT vote...
