Everyone that wants to get started, start listening to “Uncle Jack” at http://www.thesurvivalpodcast.com.

Don’t let the word “survival” turn you off. This is not a “camoflaged ninja creeping around in the woods with an AR and a backpack” kind of “survivalist”,

but more of a “grow your own garden, raise your own chickens” kind of “survivalist”.

You might survive the conflict, but the pestilence and famine that will surely follow will be the bugger. You can bet there won’t be a Marshall Plan after the next one.

I wonder how long it will take - we better move FAST, the storm clouds have already gathered, less than 24 hours after polls closed. The election was stolen by Santa Clause.

Reid moves to limit GOP filibusters

It is crashing, that is for sure. We couldn’t stop it if we wanted to.

Even with Romney and a fillibuster proof majority in Congress/Senate, the crash couldn’t be stopped.

The difference, though, would have been that there would have been an economic runup before the dollar was inflated out of existance,
and there would have been a capitalist/businessman instead of a Marxist in power to put the pieces back together.

IC Ken....You better plan your hide far from your home in a wilderness area or hard access area with a good surrounding view(free fire zone). When TSHTF, your house will be a death trap even if you have 10,000 rds of ammo. Secrecy and invisibility will be your hope for survival until you meet up with like-minded groups and form community defenses...

Even though a movie, Red Dawn is an example of survival, albeit without the offensive moves that the group made...That was Hollywoodish....

That’s the start...It will only sustain you until the pack mentality begins with the people who haven’t planned and they band together to pillage...That’s when you better be invisible with your supplies somewhere else....

The only problem is that weapons have become so advanced that none may survive a truly intense war.

Superstorm Sandy was a wake-up call. I hope people were paying attention. Those who were unable to make it a week without assistance need to get started on their preparations now.

With respect to advanced weapons, you're correct. Those who don't have guns or can't afford them need to learn how to use and sharpen knives. Many will scoff at such a suggestion, but I had a conversation with FReeper Mr Rogers last year about knives versus guns that gave me a new perspective. Then just the other day, I was flipping through the channels and caught an episode of "I Survived" in which a female lawyer was attacked in her apartment by an intruder with a knife. The damage he inflicted, quietly, changed my mind about bringing a knife to a gun fight. I love my guns, but I also now keep a blade next to my bed and in my truck.

What is with the popularity of the phrase “going Galt”? The correct term is “shrugging.” Tell your friends and family to call it shrugging.

Scary scenario, but I’m also concerned about a related issue. One of my favorite movies is “Falling Down” with Michael Douglas from 1994. I could see a lot of people “falling down.”

It’s kind of ironic that the author chose to use the French Revolution as an example of getting ready to fight socialism.

Think the point was that we have a ruling elite that is not working for our best interests. They are lining their own pockets (bailouts). The outcome from the fight against our tyrants, is not very predictable. We could slip into a socialistic Russia or a more perestroika ("restructuring") and "glasnost" ("openness") Poland or form several new countries. Some socialistic (Kalifornicationland) and some based on the principals of the founding fathers of the US (Free Texas).

This is getting really serious. I mean for the American people to say “OK” to socialism bordering on Communism it is the most frightening thing I have see in my 41 years. Yes Clinton was bad but he was a just a walking penis. This man has conned every one into thinking he is the next FDR. I weep for my country. No longer the Country I love but the country of my birth.

“...I am thinking 1K rounds of ammo should be enough ...”

You need a bit more than a thousand rounds, friend...

And it won’t only be the hordes from the city you need worry about; it’ll be FedZilla and thugs with badges that consider you a threat for having the temerity to believe you actually have rights and property worth defending.

A major war, civil or world wide, appears to be to only way out of the fiscal mess our nation and the rest of the so-called civilized world has gotten itself into with it's welfare politics. War will reduce the number of mouths to feed, put people to work, hide the theft that the stimulus programs are and put even more money into the pockets of the ruling class. The only problem is that weapons have become so advanced that none may survive a truly intense war.

I remember in history class at college, the prof did make a point on why Europe have a major war every 20 to 50 years with a purpose to control the population growth, especially male. As you pointed out, we can't do that anymore because nukes will fly.
