White House website deluged with secession petitions from 20 states

How would Old Glory look with 30 stars instead of 50? As far-fetched as it may sound, the White House might soon be forced by its own rules to examine the question.
On Nov.7, the day after President Barack Obama was re-elected, the White Houses website received a petition asking the administration to allow Louisiana to secede.
If 25,000 people sign the petition by Dec. 7, it will require a response from the Obama administration, according to published rules of the White Houses online We the People program. (RELATED: Website petition to Obama: Please create Do Not Kill list)
The Louisiana petition has collected more than 12,300 signatures in four days. A separate effort from Texas has 15,400 supporters.
Similar petitions from 18 other states began arriving Nov. 9, bringing the total for the moment to 20.
The White House website publicly displays petitions that have attracted at least 150 signers. (RELATED: Obama petition initiative bashed as unethical campaigning with taxpayer resources)
Michael E from the New Orleans suburb of Slidell penned the initial proposal the website doesnt provide last names in which he asked the Obama administration to [p]eacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.
His entire petition consisted of excerpts from the Declaration of Independence.

They will never be taken seriously without actions. It’s just a formalized complaint at this point.
Free Republic was way out in front on secession. Looks like the rest of the country is waking up.
I think they got this backwards. The 20 seceding states ARE the United States of America.
The other 30 are the United State of America.
Now it’s TWENTY.
Was 15 when we last checked.
The names on the petitions will be forwarded to the IRS for audits and the TSA for the no-fly list.
I say we still have the best form of representative government, that Saudi oil money can buy!
Stupidity.
bflr
Save for later read.
Future roster of the reeducation camp...
Those on the petition list will now be on the governments IRS audit list and the domestic terrorist list.
LOL! Okay, I'm as much for the exercise of this Inherent Right as anyone else, but....really?
First, 'citizens' can't petition the federal government to leave the Union.
Second, NO ONE has to 'ask' for their permission in the first place.
Third, it would have to be a written, legal document with legal verbiage such as Notice of Intent, Declaration of Secession, or (my personal favorite) Notification of Breach of Contract.
It would have to be submitted by the entity of the State, because the States that are the parties TO the compact.
If people want to leave the US, they can expatriate themselves. Haven't looked into the subject very much, but supposedly you get sent to your last 'nation of origin'.
Luckily for me, mine's the Republic of Texas. :-)
That's the problem I have with all these petitions. Everyone who signs is just self identifying for a target list. The Obama Administration is not one the citizenry can petition for redress.
How is it stupid? Ever read the Declaration of Independence? Patriots are stupid for ignoring the obvious. The establishment will never relenquish power in Washington. Even if Romney had won nothing was going to change except the curtains.
Symbolic only. Nothing will come of this attempt the same as it did when Voter ID was being asked. Pointless in my opinion but gives the idea that people are indeed waking up to this bogus gubmint we now have.
> The names on the petitions will be forwarded to the IRS for audits and the TSA for the no-fly list.
That’s the reason I don’t use my real name on petitions that pertain to the US GOVT. Because that’s the first thing they do; place your name on the audit list then add you to the domestic terrorist list for follow-up investigation if your views are “too patriotic”...lol
Yeah, and 200 years ago attending a committee of safety meeting put you on the list too. Grow some.
The White House website is under “maintenance” now anyway, so you can just use that excuse.
It is stupid for different reasons, but among them is this: did the American people ask King George’s permission before declaring Independence?
Yeah, and that’s two more reasons to sign. Grow a pair. I signed.
Given the amount of tweets I made to Obama, I’m likely on every watch list possible. Thought about that every time I did it. Didn’t stop me but I did think about it.
THANK YOU for clarifying that point. You are correct.
“It is stupid for different reasons, but among them is this: did the American people ask King Georges permission before declaring Independence?”
You don’t understand the concept of civil protest?
I signed one.
Also you seem to be unaware that the colonists petitioned King George multiple times. Look up the Olive Branch Petition.
Government does not relinquish power because of the pen!
The pen ONLY becomes mightier than the sword when it brings people to the conclusion that they must take up arms against the ruling elite.
Maybe someday, before the unionized communist teachers remove all his writings from the American conscience, the words of Thomas Jefferson will be taken seriously.
The filth, staining every segment of our Federal government have even publicly stated, that “the free market is a joke and power comes from the barrel of a gun”. That’s liberal anti-2nd amendment scum speaking folks. Read their lips. Anita Dunn said this along with Ron Bloom at separate events. Of course they were quoting one of their favorite politicians, Mao. You know that mass murderer who Anita Dunn looks to for guidance.
Their is not enough industrial strength Janitor In a Drum, to clean our government buildings after this filth is finally removed from their dictatorship.
If I were elected President today, I’d rather stay at a Motel 6 then sleep in the bedroom that was infested with this POS and his wookie wife.
It is our right to petition. Even if the response is known, it is a process that promotes discussion.

Putting your name on a White House petition is not growing some. It is just doing their work for them. If you want to do something, almost anything else is likely more effective.
....and got punished....which is likely what will happen to these people. I stand by my statement.
Anyone who thinks Obama can be persuaded to permit greater freedom and liberty for individuals is stupid.
Any attempt to succeed will be brutally put down by the Gay Military. Obama is the Gay Abraham Lincoln.
It should be approached more locally. For instance, the State of IL should secede from Cook County (Chicago) . This is where the vote fraud is going on and where most of the corruption is concentrated.
I thought about it, but decided let them Come and get me. I signed. Long live the Republic of Texas!
Way to go. Get on the no fly list and alert the FBI to who they need to watch.
Secession does not mean war. It is only because of statist thugs that the 2 have become synonymous.
What’s the sense in asking for permission froma lawless regime? The Cofederate States had more guts than the petioners; they seceeded and THEN told the Yankee government.
You may disagree all you want, but they had the courage of their convictons, something sorely lacking today. We can complain all we want from the safety (for now) of our keyboards, but would we take action?
IF SECESSION NOT, THEN REVOLUTION MUST
Hmm. Where to start. Advocating secession is not something that JimRob has ever done. He's been pretty clear about this since day one. And in fact the FR rules forbid it.
Free Republic does not advocate or condone racism, violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government. Free Republic advocates a return to constitutionally limited government, reserving all government powers not expressly delegated by the constitution to the United States to the States respectively, or the people, emphasizing sovereign state governments, local government, self-government and self-rule, while restricting government powers to only those enumerated in the constitution and maximizing individual rights and liberty as originally envisioned and established by our Founding Fathers and secured and defended by the blood of patriots and statesmen for over two hundred years.
On the other hand FR has always encouraged like-minded Conservatives to speak their minds and discuss events in the news. And the topic of secession has been in the news more and more. As the full reality of what having the executive branch dominated by far-left crazies has grown on us all, the discussions have naturally moved into the discussion of secession. It's in the news, so it's fair game.
But I wouldn't say that FR has had a leadership role in promoting secession. And in fact I can remember JimRob banning people who were aggressively promoting such ideas six or seven years ago.
The website DumpDC is probably the leading website advocating secession as a general cure-all for what ails the USA. And there are lots of other ones focusing on the secession of a particular state or region, like Texas or Dixie. Some of these sites are on FR's permanent list of banned sites.
Anyway, that's my view. It's certainly a topic in the news that is discussed here but FR is dedicated to maintaining and perfecting the Republic - the whole Republic, not just parts of it.
I almost want to make this my tag line! It's perfect. I don't know if you intentionally misspelled it, but that makes it even better.
Secede: to withdraw from an organization (as a religious communion or political party or federation).
Succeed: to come next after another in office or position or in possession of an estate; especially : to inherit sovereignty, rank, or title; to follow after another in order; to turn out well; to attain a desired object or end
Yep, any attempt to succeed in this country will be severely punished.
Yep, that includes the definition of bettering yourself and your position in life,
and the definition of passing on something to your heirs.
Any attempt to do either will be put down and thwarted.
“They will never be taken seriously without actions. Its just a formalized complaint at this point.”
More time required yet.
An interesting point, as detailed in yesterday’s Washington Times, is that an increasing number of state legislatures are now under one-party control (both in blue states and red states). The states are becoming increasingly -divided-.
It’s not 1861 yet. We’re still around 1853 as of now...
What began as a pair of parallel stunts appears to have gathered steam. Other than Louisiana and Texas, states with secession-related petitions pending on the White House website now include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Three states Georgia, Missouri and South Carolina are each represented by two competing petitions.
Let's just kick the parasites out and let 'em find a new name!
Folks, I think this is agitprop designed to be able to brand the 'red states' as in rebellion as an excuse to permit declaring Martial Law to 'occupy' those same States and suspend the Constitution.
Agents provacateur, anyone?
For any petition to have weight or standing it would have to be signed by people from that state.
Otherwise, we could all get together sign for and have Washington DC, New Jersey, New York, California, (pick a state or other political entity) thrown out....
I think people are forgetting Puerto Rico, voted for statehood. Therefore it goes from 58 stars down to 28.
I think obama plans to replace the star section with his own image. Or a good ole hammer and sickle in the corner. So this whole discussion of stars maybe moot.
