I think the strategy should be, and I’m 100% serious is, to vote “Present”; let the RATS get everything they want...without actually voting for it or against it. Let the Senators vote “Not Proven” like ole Arlen did.

The Manchurian Candidate who voted “Present” just got elected to a second term, right?

At least they should each give a speech on the floor about their grave concerns with the policies.

Dems plan on letting all the tax cuts expire, then holding a vote in the Senate to re-cut some of them forcing Senate Republicans to vote. Republicans are in a much more vulnerable position then they were two years ago 2010 now holding the house, so I bet Bohner puts it up and most will vote for it.

If there is no immediate deal pending the stock market will likely take a dive, This is where it would be good to fight like Dems (real fighters), to pull all the vids of dems saying they want all the tax cuts to expire and in a coordinated way go on all the TV channels (but MSNBC) and warn how bad this could be if Dems get their way.

If Obama gets his way and there is not obvious Damage to the economy Republicans are probably screwed indefinitely. And you are right, given R party history of saying dumb things on camera, they could get get the blame if it goes bad

Let all the Bush Era Tax cuts expire, and everything else that is set to expire including capital gains rates, SS tax, inheritance taxes, AMT, etc. Return to the Clinton Era taxes. That should make the left happy. It was the Clinton tax hikes, after all, that gave us an economic boom, a recovery from “the worst economy since Herbert Hoover” and a balanced budget. HOWEVER,just in case, these tax increases MUST have a sunset provision. In 4 years we return to the Bush Era Taxes if Congress does not act. I think 4 years is long enough. Let's see the next Democrat nominee campaign on that issue.

if you give them the farm now without a time limit, it will be virtually impossible to get meaningful tax cuts in the Congress anytime soon.

Yes, certainly those tax increases -- c'mon now, they're not "increases" they're "expiring tax cuts for the wealthy" doncha know?! -- will have a sunset provision. Just like any amnesty for illegals will happen ONLY AFTER the border is secure.

In other words, "dream on".

Sure, let's agree to that! -- but ONLY IF the libs also agree to return to the Clinton-era BUDGET (adjusted for inflation, even). Then we'll even give up our demand for a sunset provision.

See, THIS is how to compromise without grabbing your ankles, Mr. Speaker!

Just imagine if the Congressional Republican leadership had a spine.

” No. If the Democrats had their way we’d all be dead. They have no intention of letting us ever wield power again.

Ever.

Every Marxist claque that has ever taken over a nation has killed its opposition. Why should we think this group would be any different? “

One voice of sanity in this thread. There won’t be anything left to save.

I’m so burnt I intend to drop out of politics and quit voting.

I hear ya.

This morning, I was thinking about the SCOTUS situation.

Ruth Buzzi Ginsberg, 79, appears to have one foot in the grave. Breyer is 74. Guessing both were thrilled to see the Kenyan Marxist win a second term.

Scalia and Kennedy are both 76; if either leaves before 2017, voluntarily or not, we are f'n toast for generations to come. I gotta think that weighs on them, especially Scalia.

Thomas is 64 and, Alito, 62. Hopefully they don't take up bungee jumping.

And, there's TFB Roberts {SPIT}, 57. Wouldn't be terribly surprised if he wakes up one day and steps in front of a bus. (Dubya, if he's not driving the bus, might be alongside him.)

Anyway, if I'm O, all my future appointees are commie broads under 50. If I was feeling particularly invincible, I'd pick women of color in their 30s (e.g. younger "wise Latinas").

Regardless, more than ever, I'm happy to know all is in good hands (see tagline).

On a brighter note, Israel is actually taking care of business.
