A decade before calling himself "a consistent supporter of pro-life values," Tennessee physician and Republican U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais supported his ex-wife's decision to get two abortions before their marriage, according to the congressman's sworn testimony during his divorce trial.

Obtained by the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the couple's 2001 trial transcript also confirms DesJarlais had sexual relationships with at least two patients, three coworkers and a drug representative while he was chief of staff at Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, Tenn. During one affair with a female patient, DesJarlais prescribed her drugs, gave her an $875 watch and bought her a plane ticket to Las Vegas, records show.

I hope that DesJarlais does the right thing and resigns. It was important that he get reelected in November (which he was), since if a Blue Fraud got elected in the TN-04 he might stay for years (as was the case with Des Jarlais’s predecessor, Lincoln Davis), but now he should step aside and let the district’s voters select his replacement in a special election (whom I’m sure will be a conservative Republican).

This took place 14 yrs ago. And it’s the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the same paper who put that soldier up to trying to nail Rumsfeld with the question about armoured vehicles in Iraq and he said you work with what you have. In other words the TFP is a liberal rag.

DeJarlais has done a good job for Tennessee. This was 14 years ago and its a long story but it didn’t exactly happen the way the TFP is reporting it. I am more concerned with the fact that newspapers are allowed access to private divorce records.

Sad. But I know so many Republicans/fiscal conservatives that are rabidly prochoice. That is probably where the bulk of Obama’s votes from white women came from this election cycle. PP was very effective this election cycle trumpeting abortion rights.

Wait, this is not a RINO, this is a lying, hypocritical Conservative. Someone who ran and won on strong conservative principles, but ones he himself has not lived by.

There are plenty of morally upright conservatives in TN-04 who could do a similarly good job for Tennessee.

Has DesJarlais undergone a religious conversion since those events from 14 years ago, and shown contrition for his actions (not only for his adultery and unethical relationships with patients, but for supporting abortion)? If that’s the case, he’d better explain exactly what happened and how he knows he was 100% wrong, even if it’s embarrassing. If he doesn’t want to delve into the past because it could hurt his family, that’s his right, but in that case he should return to private life. He shouldn’t expect conservatives to support him without a damn good explanation as to why we should trust him to act morally from now on.

But he's a Republican and it was 14 years ago, so we have ignore it. (sarcasm intended)

Some people are seriously sick.

Please, folks, understand this; divorce papers say anything. I was mailed a copy of a divorce claim on our private school principal once. It contained many outlandish claims but was enough to force him to quit. Too many people do not understand civil and uncivil elements of divorce. Many claim abuse, where none existed. In fact, some attorneys ALWAYS get protection orders against the male party because it carries such onerous rules and perceptions.
Unless this is the final, agreed upon document, I would take this with a grain of salt. Be wary.
As to the above story, all the claims were proven false. HOwever, there was NO civil recourse since it was a legitimate court document. Same with the newspaper reporting. Even if subsequent documents prove the allegations were false, they cannot be sued because they are using a legal claim.

Lets get real people. This story is coming from a slime ball lib, Stewart, and a slimy lib newspaper, Times Free Press, both of whom would do anything to damage a Republican and that includes embellishing the he!! out of something that took place fourteen years ago.

DesJarlais has done a very good job in his first two years. He is unusual in that most freshman congressman accomplish nothing in their first two years.

Just like the Clinton’s posession of raw FBI files. They contained statements/allegations, but no findings of fact. Just enough to slander someone.

Like I always say, few politicians have any core beliefs, they are actors who play a role that they think will get them elected. Look at Romney, he tried to act like a conservative during the campaign.

Ironically one the few politicians who didn’t “act” was Reagan.

Even slimeballs sometimes dig up the truth. Have DesJarlais and his ex wife come out to say that the reports are not true?

Regarding the liberal scumbags “embellishing” something that happened 14 years ago, how could they muck up a story about DesJarlais supporting his wife’s decision to kill two of their unborn babies? If DesJarlais later had an epiphany and became pro-life, then he has to say so, and explain how he came to see the light. But the guy’s a freaking doctor, so he can’t claim ignorance about what occurs during conception or how the fetus develops in the womb.

And as for the stories about DesJarlais committing adultery with several patients, co-workers and a drug rep, if untrue he should swear that the allegations are false; if the claims are true, I have no interest in an explanation, only in acceptance of wrongdoing and genuine contrition.

Due to these allegations, Congressman DesJarlais has become just about the only Republican who can lose in that district. Unless he either can clear his name or admit to the sins but show genuine remorse and prove that he has changed as a person, he should resign and let another conservative Republican serve in Congress.
