Do what his constituency elected him to do.
BLOW THE DAMNED WHISTLE!
Then Cantor is another gullible Republicrat!
You and I know that doesn’t mean anything. Bush was not a great president, nor did he appoint great men.
That's always the way: "Shut up, for the good of the country." It's going to be very difficult for any smaller group of elected officials to ever return the nation to constitutional government as long as the "old boys" dominate both parties and the State and Defense hierarchies.
Let’s just say the Virginians of the 21st century bear no relationship whatever to the leadership class of the 18th century.
That’s right, who in the world would pay attention to Cantor or his “superior” Boehner? Certainly not many Republicans outside of VA or OH. Bring back Eddie Cantor, Eric is the real joke.
Yea, GWB must have found John G. Roberts from the same place Reagan found Sandra Day O’Connor.
What would a Democrat Congressman do in a similar situation, with a scandal involving a Republican administration?
First, he’d do exactly as Cantor did—report the news to the FBI.
THEN, he’d leak the news to a friendly reporter at, say, the NY Times.
That’s how the D.C. game is played. And if our leaders aren’t willing to do this, it’s time to get new leaders.
That's a good start. Term limits would help, too.
Should not be surprised that a GOP helped Obama win by covering up for Obama. They had been doing this all along with the Obama Eligibility issue....we even have GOP Talk Radio and GOP Media involved in that one
The GOP is nothing more than DNC-Lite
islamism
Or do you keep it to yourself, or do you report it to somebody at FBI you trust, or do you get a gun and go shoot the SOB yourself?
This is one of the problems every whistle blower faces, but Cantor is a member of Congress ~ maybe he should have taken it up with, lo and behold, the whole Republican caucus? Maybe the Forty Committee should have been convened to hear Eric.
Cantor and his team feared that they were being misled and perhaps even set up. They declined to go public because the information was provided in confidence and could not be independently corroborated. Soldiers are taught to balance courage with caution. Cantor and the House leadership make the right choice, especially with an election impending and no sound way to expeditiously check out the information they were provided.
an allegation is not evidence
from everything that I have read about Patreaus, he was not a man who could be blackmailed; he would have resigned had any such attempt been made
from everything that has been reported, there is no evidence that the affair included Patreaus leaking to his paramore any classified information (she was enough of an insider in her own right)
I think Cantor will be proven right, that the scandal could have been used as a political fault against Obama - if Cantor wanted to help it become that at the point at which it was a scandalous allegation, though still lacking evidence of wrongdoing other than an illicit affair - but that if there was any operation in play against anyone it seems that it was not against Obama but against Patreaus, which I believe is still the case.
If - and I am not saying for sure that’s the case - Cantor believed he was giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, for the moment, it was not Obama, it was Patreaus.
Cantor has always been shifty—in appearance and deed.
I find it very discouraging that they are the two senior leaders of a supposedly conservative GOP House.
it is the American mind set, watch TV pay close attention to the programs, commercials, cartoons,
propaganda everywhere.
Examples intelligent black women tell ignorant geeky withe guy what insurance to buy.
Children making dad look like a moron.
There are hidden messages everywhere.
I used to be a Cantor fan, but I’ve become very disenchanted with him.
You are correct.
Recently it was reported that Arlen Specter had passed away in Pennsylvania. With all due respect to Mr. Specter, that is not true. I firmly believe that Mr. Specter resides in the person of Eric Cantor, who probably learned how to contrive, confuse and dissemble from Mr. Specter himself. We will never be rid of this rabble.
First time I heard Cantor, I swore he was a demwit. You could have blown me over seeing the R by his name.
