Some good stuff here...GQ can't be posted here, so I just gave the link.

Rubio says his best political friends are Jim DeMint and Jeb Bush. Good choices, I think.

GQ tries to trap Rubio into getting into social/religious/moral questions...things that hurt Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock. Rubio didn't fall for it.

They asked him about the age of the earth--an obvious ploy to get him to talk about evolution vs. creation...but Rubio says that has nothing to do with our economy and GDP...

They ask him why Republicans are so against sodomites and the perversion of marriage. He says he thinks it is wrong for one side to be able to speak up and the other is told to shut up.

I like Rubio.

I know a lot of people think he is a sell out. I don't.

Amnesty will guarantee conservatives wander in the wilderness for another forty years. Twenty-five million new Democrat voters is not what this country needs. And we don’t need to recruit foreign workers. Anyone seen the unemployment numbers recently? Or the huge deficits run up by socialist democrats and “compassionate” conservatives?

Just wait until the Dem Machine/MSM starts tearing him to shreds. He’ll end up looking to the average uninformed voter like a combination of Adolph Hitler and Torquemada.

I’ll start listening in 2015. I’m still suffering from the Kool-aide I drank in 2012.

I think Rubio will come under fierce attack over a comment he made a while ago that confused the timeline of his ancestors arriving from Cuba or something.

If Rubio evolves into a serious national player, his mis-statement (if indeed it was) will milked for all it is worth.

I don’t think he’s a sell-out, and he manages to keep focused on the actual issues, and not just the economic ones, without falling into their traps.

I think he did quiet down after Romney got nominated and even when it became apparent that Romney was going to be the nominee, unfortunately. Romney obviously wanted his bland non-disruptive view of the GOP to be the one that was presented. Even Ryan had wanted to go to urban areas, including black areas, and make the economic and moral pitch, but Romney wouldn’t let him. So I guess we can’t blame Rubio for being muted during the campaign, since he obviously wasn’t going to run third party or go off on his own.

One of the problems with both Akin and Mourdock is that they made off-hand remarks that they should have known better than to make...and then defended them to the death, even knowing that it would mean the loss of these seats. This was because having the GOP win was not important to them: the only important thing to them was their ego.

Rubio does understand the need to be a party player, but I think you’ll see him emerging much more in the future or perhaps getting the party to go in a better direction. He’s a great speaker (I’ve seen him), witty and pleasant but doesn’t talk down to his audience, and can defend his points.

Rubio’s already hit Iowa. Seems he can’t wait to get the buzz started.

I’d be much more excited about someone like Mike Pence.

So, let me get this straight. I am expected to get all excited about Rubio (who I do like) for the next four years. Work on his campaign, donate money (if any of us have any money left), etc. and watch the Democrats blatantly steal the election from us and, again, watch the GOP never even mention it, confront it or do one thing about it.

Nah, I'll pass.

Well, one out of two ain't bad, I guess.

said at the time when Ryan was picked but got slated off some that we shoudl ave had Rubio on the ticket instead.

It would have brought hispanics to our side, would have shown hispanics that we want them plus een wiht the massive corruption and fraid the Dems did we could have certanly got FL, , VA, OH, , maybe NM but probably not enough to get WI.

Notice how the left will go full blown now to take Rubio out before he poses a threat to them

The jury is still out for me. But I’m admittedly very wary of Rubio due to his status as a protege of Jeb Bush. That sends alarm bells. Loud and blaring alarm bells. My first doubts arose when he demured with a rather weaselly response when questioned about Jan Brewer and the passage of the Arizona law a couple of years back.

If he joins in on this amnesty bandwagon, he’ll never receive one shred of support from me. I can promise that.

I will NOT vote for another Bush and if Marco admires Jeb I have a problem with that and his quickness in jumping on the correct idea that B.O. played Santa Claus really has cooled any ardor I ever had for him. Of course, same with Jindal and Christie.

A bank robber steals the money because he needs it....an Illegal breaks into our Country because he gets freebies.....BOTH ARE ALIKE, aka, Law Breakers/Criminals.

We should no more give the bank robber a free pass than we should give the Illegal a free pass....PERIOD.

Intrigued by Rubio BUT be aware Romney trojan-horsed Rubio's Senate staff from Day 1:
"Florida Sen.-elect Marco Rubio announced his top staff, which included three former Romney campaign hands. Sally Canfield, who served as Romney's policy adviser, will be Rubio's legislative director and chief policy adviser; Joe Pounder, who was in charge of rapid response for Romney, will be Rubio's communications director; and Alex Burgos, who directed specialty media for Romney, will serve as director of media affairs for Rubio." -- RCP/Time, Jan. 4, 2011
It's not a dealbreaker but just something to be aware of...
