A cartoon image comes to mind. A mother breaks up a fight between two children, one of whom offers this defense: “It started when he hit me back.”

Remember that mentality when you hear Palestinians call Israel “the aggressor.” Hamas fired hundreds, perhaps 1,000 missiles into Israel from Gaza. They hit schools, apartment buildings, streets and vacant lots. The aim was to kill and, if not to kill, at least to terrorize. Mission accomplished.

Finally, Israel responded, first by “droning” the Hamas military leader, then by airstrikes against the terror group’s ammunition dumps and rocket launchers, some intentionally placed near mosques and houses.

So, yes, naturally, the war started when Israel hit back.

Double standards are par for the course in the Mideast and all the Jew-hating salons from Turtle Bay to Paris. While the hatred is shouted with a clenched fist on the smoldering streets of Gaza City, equally absurd claims are made by striped-pants diplomats and left-leaning sophisticates who insist Israel is guilty of “disproportionate” force because it uses its huge military advantage.

Their argument moves the goal posts. They tacitly accept Israel’s right to respond, but only up to a point. No matter its losses, the Jewish state must never “escalate” because that would be unfair.

If the Palestinians in Gaza want peace all they have to do is stop fighting.

wouldn't it be better if they all decided to blow themselves up? One massive Shaheed Party. 1.2 million Palestinians meet in the Gaza central square and detonate themselves together. Of course a blast of that proportion might shatter a few windows in Israel's communities living around Gaza but...they can be replaced.

There will be a new and ramped up attack soon. I would think they would fire from the Sinai instead of Gaza, but they seem to like the collateral damage in Gaza (good press).

BTW: The right-leaning part of the Israeli electorate is so pissed off at Netanyahu about the cease-fire that as things stand he has very little chance of retaining his job in the upcoming elections. Not that he deserves any better mind you but that will mean a leftist will become PM.

His only hope for redemption now is if Hamas breaks the cease-fire in a big way and he sends the IDF in and cleans the place out....these facts are surely on his mind now.

There is nothing in their koran about stop fighting the enemy. Enemy is a perception defined by a cleric. Never lose sight to the obvious teachings of the koran of perpetual enemies & it’s battle plan against non-Muslims. One also has to take into consideration that anti-semitism is once again as trendy and chic as it was in the thirties, if not more so. And Israeli Apartheid Week probably deserves more thanks than any other individual or organisation for that development.

The Palestinians are a people bound together solely by hate. Theirs is a hatred that transcends their love of country, god, self and even of their children. If Israel were to vanish tomorrow, the Palestinian people would also perish for a lack of a reason to eat, breath or live. This is why even the Arab world refuses to embrace them except so far as they are useful to threaten and harass Israel. They will be outcasts regardless of what the Israelis do.
