IBD: Obama's Southeast Asia Trip All Style, No Substance [we should expect something else?]
IBD ^ | Tuesday, November 20, 2012

...

In his tour of Burma, billed as an historic first visit since Burma's 2007 move to democracy, it was clear he was in way over his head, even on small things. Obama repeatedly referred to the country's Nobel Peace Prize-winning leader Aung San Suu Kyi as Aung Yan Suu Kyi, an astonishing error given her global fame.

He also bungled the norms of Burmese polite address, calling Thein Sein, the nation's leader "President Sein," an error comparable to addressing Cambodia's Pol Pot as Mr. Pot.

But he also undermined his supposed democracy mission, first by telling the Burmese leaders that he too wished he could govern without opposition, calling into question whether he himself believed in the representative government he was advocating.

...

No substance, no influence. Nothing underlined this quite like the lack of crowds greeting Obama in all three nations.

...

So what is really Obama's tour about? Apparently a get-out-of-town photo-op all about himself as a means of avoiding pressing problems back home. The Asians deserve better — and so do the Americans.

On his trip to Cambodia, a country he claimed didn't deserve a visit due to its strongman government, first lady Bun Rany greeted Obama with a traditional "sampeah" pressed-hands greeting reserved for servants, a little dig that was probably lost on him but not to Asians.

LOL! The Cambodian First Lady pwned nobama.

This is a typical Buddhist Greeting:
Generally, two palms together at the heart level, and with head lean forward as though giving a small bow or nod (further the body lean forward the more respect you are displaying.)

Note: she is bowing also. If you don’t know any Buddhists and don’t know what’s going on, ask around.

This is not the same as what Obama did in Saudi.

Don’t we have something else of substance to get on him about?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds like the mask more than slipped. He took it off completely for a foreign audience.

My apologies. Here's the pic that belongs in reply #1:

Notice that nobama parrots the demeaning gesture back to her. LOL! Complete idiot.

Really? All I can say is well, I have a goal, and an ambition, and I honestly don’t care most of the time about those who disagree with me. Frankly, can Obama go for more than a few minutes without talking about what he thinks dissenters are? We’ve been having a childish mentality in the White House. But what I found funny is the following passage, Isaiah 3:12, “Childish leaders oppress my people”(New Living Translation) “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.”(KJV)

Either way, it makes one wonder if prophets like Isaiah foresaw now, with immature leaders running the world governments.

Either way, Happy Thanksgiving!

“Has any of his foreign trips produced anything for this country?”

Sure, don’t you remember his historic trip to Israel? Huh, what’s that? Oh.

Obama repeatedly referred to the country's Nobel Peace Prize-winning leader Aung San Suu Kyi as Aung Yan Suu Kyi, an astonishing error given her global fame.

What is astonishing is he pronounced every part of her name incorrectly, including the only part "san" that is pronounced phonetically, thereby achieving a 100% error rate.

Where in the world did you get that figure?

I do not have the exact numbers to hand, but I reckon Burma is ~75% Buddhist, 20% Christian, with some Hindus and a miniscule Rohingya muslim minority, which the Burmese are doing their best to give the boot to.

Need you ask? He hates the Western world. Including America. To even the most politically detached people in the world, that should be obvious by now.

The Asians deserve better — and so do the Americans

Do the majority of the American electorate that are fools and freeloaders really care?

That's the real problem.
