I’ve always wondered, “If GOLD is such a great investment, why are they trying to sell me some for paper money?”.............

Mr Ditter ask that question every time he hears a BUY GOLD NOW ad on the radio. If it is so valuable why don’t they keep it?

“I’ve always wondered, “If GOLD is such a great investment, why are they trying to sell me some for paper money?”.............”

Two years ago, we were visiting our grandkids, and they let me watch Fox Business, during the hour after closing. There were tv ads after ad pushing gold as our $ was so worthless.

Our 11 year old, going on 31 grand daughter asked, “Papa, how do you pay for Gold if our dollar is so weak and bad?”

I told her that the gold sellers sold their gold for $’s.

Her reply, “That makes no sense?”

Then, she added, “Why would they sell their valuable gold for worthless dollars?”

I told her I didn’t know. Later at, our home, I put a stop loss of 5% on our GLD etfs. That was a good move.

Why are they selling gold?
Because they invested in it, and now want to reap the profits and enjoy life now.
Because purchases are made with cash, not gold, in general society.
Because cash is a fine investment for the very short term.
Because gold is great for maintaining wealth thru a crisis, but not so much during or preparing for that crisis.
Because you can’t eat gold, drive gold, or heat your house with gold.
Because they’re not selling all of it, just what they need to live on in comfort.

Something to Ponder, for sure.......I always wondered the same thing.

Kinda like a clairvoyant who never wins the Lottery.

Real Estate is valuable, yet you can always find an agent still willing to sell you a house.

I’ve always wondered, “If SHOES are such a great purchase, why is Nordstrom trying to sell me some for paper money?”...

I’ve always wondered, “If STOCKS are such a great investment, why are they trying to sell me some for paper money?”...

(Hint: the people offering it aren’t investors, they’re brokers or retailers)

And how much paper money will the government pay you for your gold when they confiscate it?

Oh, wait. The government would NEVER confiscate gold owned by private citizens.

You could say that about any investment, of course there may be a time when the paper money is relegated to its true value which is only what the paper is good for such as tender for starting fires etc. If that day comes, which I see as more and more likely, then those who sold gold for cash may not look so smart. Personally I think canned beans, dry beans, canned tuna, clothing, toilet paper, brass and lead etc. are better investments if you really expect TSHTF. By the way if you were caught out in freezing weather and there is a field of corn still standing do you know what to do?
