You got that right!
Taking the typical liberal mindset into account, and the typical liberal reaction to perceived slights, it was probably something about Obama or his effects on America. Consevatives tend to ignore or logically respond to liberal pronouncements.
Wrong.
The reporter left out the most important detail of the issue, which is, what Mr. Gesses actually said to cause this whole kerfuffle.
Without that, the reader is left to surmise that he’s a victim in this story, when in fact, he may have said something that truly warranted such an extreme response.
The cops always have an attorney. That's why you never want to talk to them without one on your side. The system is set up to maximize arrests and convictions, not for "truth and justice". It's a merciless machine, and you had better use everything at your disposal to defend yourself.
A LEO I know acutally once said, "We don't arrest innocent people!"
For those who haven't watched these videos, I *HIGHLY* recommend them:
It's up to the prosecutor & judge whether anything comes of perjury.
But a guy can always pursue a big lawsuit for defamation, etc., against the false accuser.
I'm somewhat curious as to what he might have said, that would warrant sending a proxy to threaten him and to demand an apology.
bkmk
You sure about that? Video isn’t film, and is certainly used all the time.
Could things have changed since your encounter with the legal system?
Always a good one to post in threads like this.
Hell I hope his name is in the book. He has dishonored himself, the Seals and the Navy. He should have his name published everywhere and all should hold him in contempt. He should be sued and serve jail time. He is a disgusting piece of crap.
“One will only find the law and those who are more than willing to manipulate it to serve their own ends.”
Seems to me that the legal bureaucracy too often operates for it’s own convenience rather than the purpose for which it was established. (Like many bureaucracies.)
I hope you forgot the sarcasm tag nothing that anyone says that is offense can justify a false accusation of threatening someone with a weapon.
“It’s best, ahead of time, to invest in a good digital recorder, and record any conversations which might turn confrontational.”
Sound advice. We use these handly little ‘spy pens’ that record video and audio and on a couple of occasions (one involving a California LEO) we were able to prove that accusations against us were 100% total fabrications. I carry one of these pens with me whenever I leave the house now because you never know when you’ll need it.
This sword can cut both ways. I do not believe it is a criminal offense to identify a US Navy SEAL as such. But were they to publicly identify him, his career as a SEAL would be over.
Likewise, they mentioned that the offended dinner guest retained their anonymity. Why is that? If publicly identified, they would likely get to “share the wealth” in the limelight, which inspires many people to drop charges.
Of course, this must be done in a way to avoid libel and slander charges. But that can be a very far way indeed.
A lot of people would be deeply offended at their breaking the rules of courtesy as guests. That these are people who curse those who are kind to them. Many people will not do business with such people, and certainly will not do anything social with them.
I know enough to stay away from cops, lawyers, and the legal system as best I can. Justice is harder and harder to find in our court system. I’ve had a few acquaintances screwed over by liars and charlatans in a court of “law”. Disgusting. Despite some obvious questions about this account, I can say I’d never confront the idiots on their property. And if they knocked on my door and threatened me - SEAL, insurance agent, little old lady, wouldn’t matter - I’d call the cops. Too many people lie.
