Gingrich: House Republicans should stop negotiating with President Obama
The Daily Caller ^ | 11/29/2012 | Alexis Levinson

Posted on 11/29/2012 9:19:06 AM PST by sheikdetailfeather

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that House Republicans should stop negotiating with President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats on the fiscal cliff, saying that by doing so, they give Obama all of the leverage in the talks.

“One of the things I would say to House Republicans is to get a grip,” Gingrich said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

“They are the majority. They’re not the minority,” he said, enunciating the words as if explaining the concept to someone who did not understand it. “They don’t need to cave in to Obama; they don’t need to form a ‘Surrender Caucus.’”

“So my number one bit of advice to the congressional Republicans is simple: Back out of of all of this negotiating with Obama. The president is overwhelmingly dominant in the news media. You start setting up the definition of success finding an agreement with Obama, you just gave Obama the ability to say to you, ‘Not good enough,’” Gingrich said.

"I just can’t figure out why they are afraid to stand up to Obama."

Women, drugs, buggering little boys, kiddie porn, buggering little girls, bribes, there are all kinds of reasons why people won't stand up to someone who knows all the details of how they live.

Unfortunately you are exactly right. 0bunghole has already done great damage to the ‘middle class’ and for many it will be unrecoverable no matter what happens from here on out. A complete reversal of policies and the economy would not be enough for some.

Rush said the same thing as Newt today....and I add my "amen" to both of their opinions....so that makes three of us great intellects all on the same wavelength, LOL.

Yes Newt is right. What do you think would happen if Boehnor just went back to his office and lit up a Marlboro and started working on other legislation? In a few days the Dems and Barry would be freaking out. Boehnor’s phone would be ringing off the hook.

” Well I have some news FOR YOU as an historian. Obama leads a fascist movement. It has been the goal of EVERY fascist movement in history to destroy the middle class along with its entrepreneurship, because their success stands in the way of establishing a socialist state, because entrepreneurs are by nature conservative, they have to respond to business concerns and adapt to them in the real world, not in some fascist Utopia prescribed by someone like Obama.

What Obama is REALLY saying as POSHITUS is that by taxing and running available capital OUT of the USA, running out the upper class or wealthy, THERE will be no capital available to middle class enterpreneurs for their businesses. This will lead to the devolution of the middle calss into poverty, and make the middle class into the maleable, dependent class that can be shaped and molded by fascism, just as happened in Germany and Italy in the 1920s and 1930s.”

Spot on the money!

Yes ... they SHOULD listen to Newt Gingrich ...

As a SUCCESSFUL "revolutionary" Conservative former Speaker of the U.S. House ...

I'd say that he's "earned" his standing to give some advice.

So ... what's in your wallet to make "you" a sage ?

I am not a “sage” nor do I play one on TV. But Newt had his chance and he blew it big time. We are ready for new blood. Newt has no power now other than another talking head on Fox. Anyone can offer advice but once they have lost the respect of the people, why would they listen?

disagree on that one. Romney and Ryan talked about job creators all the time. The phrase became overused. It sounds a bit Orwellian and I don’t think many believe it.

They remember well that there was 4% unemployment and plenty of jobs when the top rate was 40% from 98-00 and all this talk about taxes going up hurting job creators doesnt wash with them.

You think Obama and the dems want to let that happen?

Boehner should do nothing and wand just wait. Around Dec 30 Obama will come to him with his hat in his hand. He’ll fold just like he did in Dec 2010 and like he was about to do in the Debt Ceiling in 2011(as Woodward’s book recounted Obama was ready to completely fold his cards in August of 2011) before the GOP caved first for some unknown reason.

Obama needs this way more than Boehner does. The cliff could end Obama’s 2nd term before it even starts. The GOP needs to hold out and demand a very high price. They’ll get pretty much whatever they want in the end.

He should be like Michael in Godfther II “You can have my offer now if you’d like, Mr President. My offer is this, nothing.”

....And I’ll go one better...there is no negotiation with Obama going on. Because Obama isn’t negotiating, he’s propagandizing. The only negotiations are among Republicans who are negotiating with themselves in the news media.

Too bad. I thought he was one of the “good guys”.

I have never been so serious in my life - we NEED another political party and we NEED to scrub the GOP. They are USELESS tools of the left.

When the Dems loose, they fight harder. When the GOP loses, even by only 2%, they run up the white flag. They are the French Soldiers of Modern politics.

We need ANOTHER political party and we should only contribute to individual candidates who are conservative - NEVER to the GOP as an institution. Return their requests for funds wiht a sheet of toilette tissue - its all they deserve.

has it sunk in yet that neither party in any branch or level of government care what any of us think?

YES.

The GOP needs to go. At least the Dems represent their socialist constituency - VERY WELL.

The GOP just craps all over theirs.

Exactly true. But I don’t think this is their philosophy.

They are too stupid and gutless. I heard Mark Levin last night and he said it all - stupid and gutless cowards.

We need ANOTHER POLITICAL PARTY! We should start on it NOW and get SO MANY MEMBERS that we can MAKE A DIFFERENCE. If the GOP nominates a conservative, we endorse him/her. If they give us ANOTHER Democrat Light like Romney or one of the pack of scum-sucking Bushes, WE RUN OUR OWN CANDIATE and steal the election from them!

We need TOUGH LOVE HERE with these bastards! Enough is enough. If they haven;t the guts to stand up to the Dems when Obama only won by a SMALL percentage and they STILL control the House, they need a trip to the woodshed!!!!!!!

The thing is our little gullible, uninformed Republican primary voters are too confused to figure things out. They won’t vote third party, but they be enticed to try once again a “Bush”, music to Jebbie’s ears.
