Remarkably, 21 percent said they would survive without services provided by electronic power less than a week and another 28 percent believed they could last less than two weeks. Three in four Americans say they would be dead in two months.

Not me! I would SURVIIIIIVE.

Anyone who would not fight and if necessary kill to protect a family member is not worthy of being called family.

It’ll be hard, but me and mine will come out the other side of any SHTF situation. We maybe a lot thinner and bit ragged around the edges, but we’ll survive and without having to crawl begging others to carry us.

Peoples attitude needs to change. The “sh*t” has already hit the fan and no one is doing ANYTHING about it. There’s not going to be any EMP strike or any immediate collapse. Just a long slow decline into South Africa. People are already being beaten, robbed, and raped DAILY and their families do NOTHING in response. Why? Because it’s unlikely that an individual will have the resources to locate the exact perp. So we do nothing. If this current epidemic of crime hits my family I feel like I only have one real recourse. I intend to strike back at the culture that produced these perps. I don’t care much about accuracy on my part anymore. It’s too limiting.

The numbers seem to work well.

Half expect to be dead, and half expect to kill...

58 percent of Americans would be somewhat or very willing to kill someone if a member of their family was threatened with attack during an emergency.

Just about half of Americans would murder someone for personal advantage or for making them mad on a good day at the moment. If we keep “progressing” it will be every slave for himself!

The sad part is that only 58% would kill to protect their family.

HALF?? Whoa, glad I’m not related to them. Of course, if I were related, I wouldn’t kill to save THEM.

The poll, conducted Nov. 28-Dec. 3 with a margin of error of 3.14 percentage points, showed 58 percent of Americans would be somewhat or very willing to kill someone if a member of their family was threatened with attack during an emergency.

But that would be because 50 percent expect that within two weeks of a catastrophic emergency, their home, person or family member would be physically attacked by someone desperate for food, money or commodities like gasoline.

Yeesh. If the sample base is reflective of America, and not a chimera from a false consensus, then austerity time is going to be rough.

One thing I remember from the Hostess bankruptcy: when good times turn to bad, camaraderie turns to acrimony. During the Great Depression, despite the lurid tales of bank robbers, crime declined. Back then, hard times lessened acrimony: brought people to their senses, in a way.

It's a safer bet that those days are gone.
