Many single women, a key bloc, are avoiding GOP

DENVER (AP) — Sara Stevenson spends her working hours surrounded by Republicans, namely the married men who work alongside her in a Denver oil and gas firm company. But after hours and on weekends, she usually spends her time with other single women, and there's not a Republican in sight among the bunch.

"There was just no way I could have supported any Republican this year," said Stevenson, 31. "They skew so much to the religious right. ... They focused so much on taxes. It's not something that women in my demographic really care about. I've never heard my friends lament their taxes."

"It also makes it hard for us single guys,"

Hey, us single conservative gals have it hard too! I haven't dated in about 4 years. I chose to remove myself from the "system" because casual sex has now become the "norm".

I don't do that; therefore, I'M the "freak".

Life is much better since I have removed myself "from the market".

Next time you go there, bring me back one. In fact, half-Thai/half-Ukrainian would be exceptionally nice. Pretty please ? With sugar on top ?

Not this single lady. One, I can take care of myself. Two, I would NEVER trust the government to take care of me. Of course, I don’t trust the government anyway.

Yes and no.

You have the 75% about right I think. However Mitt Romney was the killer.

I believe he was the strongest candidate we had remaining following Palin’s refusal to run, but it doomed us, because the single women were strongly opposed, and even some Catholics were opposed.

We must not make that mistake again.

No more Mormon candidates. They are very welcome supporters, but keep them off the top of the ticket please.

The problem I see with many liberal women is their need to be part of a collective so they are accepted. Heaven forbid they have an original thought or individuality. Amazing how the original mantra of feminism has completely failed, and liberal women are now nothing more than indentured servants to collective group think.

"Seems they prefer the effiminate leftist over the real man conservative."

That's another reason I took myself off "the market". Too many men are sooooo girly it makes me want to hurl. I LOVE manly men. Unfortunately, the ones I meet are already taken =(.

Yay, one of me!! =). Seems like we're a minority here.

Hmmm, since we're a minority, perhaps we can get ourselves classified as a "protected entity". /s

Huh? There was not a hint of ‘religious right’ in this year’s campaign. We had a fairly left leaning candidate socially who refused to address any aspect of it. This just shows how wrong the consultants are, and how misinformed the public is. Whatever the left says to characterize the GOP and conservatives sticks.

If Republicans refuse to talk to women about the safety of economic independence, individual rights, self empowerment and the family social construct, versus the risk of being at the mercy of an amoral socialist machine that is fatherless and that hates the natue of women and men and marriage, they will not win.

Black women will always suck up this liberal death. The statistics of the Black race prove the outcome and should be discussed. But we stand a chance in awakening Asians, whites and hispanics to the power and goodness of the American soul. No one came here to be enslaved to an limo liberal elitist class who view them as animals and slaves their environmental zoo. The poverty and elitist oppression of socialism is not American and will not produce a future that anyone would come here to experience.

Money quote-
“I can’t imagine coming home and having to cook dinner and deal with someone else’s problems,” she said. “I’m not there yet.”

When being a wife and a mother become something to sneer at, we truly are doomed as a society.

What the Republican party should be focused on is de-funding and dis-empowering those social institutions(academia media etc) which teach and promote this frightening level of selfishness and narcissism.

If you ask most of them about Todd Atkin, most of them will say they tried the diet and it did not work.

I know a lot of young women. They absolutely know about Akin. His comment did a lot of damage. Drove many 'on the fence' potential Republican voters to the other side.

Whether it was Scott Brown losing to Dizzy Miss Lizzie or Romney failing to the pansy, the GOP tried too hard to establish ties to womens’ issues and voters. They fell into a trap. I was told about a week prior to the debate that a friend of a friend changed her vote from Romney to Obama when she found out “Romney doesn't want women working out of the house.” What?! Some people aren't political junkies, listen to what a celeb says on Twitter or a dopey TV magazine show and vote on an issue or two; these are the people aiding in the destruction of America.

It is time for 18 year old women to register for the military draft, similar to males, in order to get college loans. I am not a proponent of women in combat but this will serve as a wake up call to women that there is more to life than abortions and jobs. There are cruel forces in the world on the inside and outside awaiting to destroy the integrity and fabric of America. A simple registration, similar to males, will show that if needed, women will honor their commitment to America and not limit their concerns to one or two issues.

These single women are “the ladyparts voters” (a term I coined and take credit for — I’m heartened to see a few other Freepers now using it as well, and I expect it to enter the general lexicon before too long).

Although their sentiments are formed early in life (young, single women make up the lion’s share of ladyparts voters), once established these voting patterns are unlikely to change. A -few- many question their own motivations after marriage and children, but an ever-larger-growing cohort of these women are going to remain single.

If there’s anything to blame for the ladyparts voters, it’s as much the advent of reliable methods of birth control. There won’t be any going back from that. As Loretta Lynn wrote and sang some years’ back:

“This old maternity dress I`ve got is going in the garbage
The clothes I`m wearing from now on won`t take up so much yardage
Miniskirts hotpants and a few little fancy frills
Yeah I`m making up for all those years since I`ve got the pill.”
