Manchin on gun control: 'We need action'
CNN ^ | 12/17/2012 | Ashley Killough

Posted on 12/17/2012 8:16:39 AM PST by Qbert

(CNN) – Sen. Joe Manchin, a conservative Democrat from West Virginia and "proud gun owner," said Monday he believes last week's Connecticut elementary school shooting should be the tipping point in the debate over limiting gun rights.

"I just came with my family from deer hunting. I've never had more than three shells in a clip. Sometimes you don't get more than one shot anyway at a deer," Manchin said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." "It's common sense. It's time to move beyond rhetoric. We need to sit down and have a common sense discussion and move in a reasonable way."

His tone sounds markedly different from one of his television ads as a Senate nominee in 2010, when he used a rifle to put a bullet through the Cap and Trade bill. He was serving as the state's governor at the time.

The senator was re-elected this year and doesn't face another election until 2016, giving him ample room to take political stances unpopular with his base.

Manchin pointed to Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, who announced Sunday she will re-introduce an assault weapons ban when Congress reconvenes in January.

Drones are beginning to fly over American cities on Congressional orders and from the zer0. Drones are used in other parts of the world to kill people. And these fools on the hill want me to be afraid of The People. I’ll continue to know (fully) I have more to fear from my Government, because I and all Americans do have more to fear. The Government has us outgunned! Being outgunned by ones Government has never been healthy for The People, throughout History, ever. May I at least be equal, dear Government? NO ... Thought that was the way it is. Thank You, NOT. Can you over there on the Government Hill tell me that lie again? You know ... the one about The People being the Government.

Here’s an FBI link...

http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-4

What’s missing is the difference in population totals by race.

When you figure that in, the per capita rates of white offenders is far lower than of black offenders.

Just crime totals, as reported, no spin, no hype. Just cold, hard data.

Interestingly, Latinos, would presumably be typically reported as whites ?

The number of murders committed by people in the suburbs and rural areas - regardless of race - is miniscule.

Murder is a big-city (bastion of liberalism and the strictest Unconstitutional gun control illegitimate laws) problem.

"Good of Manchin to speak up on this issue... now WV voters can kick his a** out of the senate and put a true conservative in there... hopefully, first nail in Manchin’s coffin.

Unfortunately, he's in there until at least 2016. This is what happens when folks vote for the Dem because daddy voted that way and grandaddy voted that way and...

"I just came with my family from deer hunting. I've never had more than three shells in a clip"

Well, Joe... if all we the people had to concern ourselves with was an occasional whitetail buck roaming through our yards, but some of us would like to fend off tyranny.

Democrats, including conservative democrats like to have resonable discussing on issues that result in doing only what they want . Otherwise it is not resasonable. If you are talking about gun control after an incident like this then you have already lost the argument. If you are talking about tax increases when facing a recession then you have lost the arguement, if you are talking about taking out dams to protect salmon then you are already lost the argument. If you ae talking about protecting the middle class in the same breath as Unionization then you have lost the argument.

Of course....the number one tenant of liberalism.....do as I say, not as I do.

And btw.....the same liberals who are calling for higher taxes....people like Warren Buffett....are busy doing everything they can to shelter their income from higher taxes.

I’ll take Dem’s seriously on gun control when they have to hang for the same crimes we do.
He should lose his job ,have a criminal record and be barred from public service

The issue is, has been, and will be about mental health. No matter how they try to hide it, every liberal needs the services of a good psychiatrist.
