Gun-control talks move to forefront [POLITICIANS RUSHING TO DESTROY LIBERTY!]
Columbus Dispatch ^ | December 19, 2012

With the massacre of schoolchildren in a Connecticut town still searing American hearts, conversations about gun control and how best to prevent mass shootings reverberated through the corridors of government at all levels yesterday.

In Washington, President Barack Obama lent support to an announcement by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., that she would craft a bill to reinstate the nation’s assault-weapons ban and close the so-called gun-show loophole permitting the sale of guns without a background check...

In Michigan, Republican Gov. Rick Snyder vetoed a bill that would have allowed some gun owners to bring concealed weapons to places such as schools and day-care centers...

Snyder, after the heroic "in your face" to the unions last week, fails on this measure.

On the bright side, Kasich of Ohio is pro-liberty.

WE must not allow politicians and haters of the Constitution to use Sandy Hook as a springboard to abrogate our freedom.

15,000 children are massacred in CT every year by abortion. Why is no one rushing to outlaw abortion?

Politicians do not have thought of their own. Their only thoughts are of getting re-elected.
They will do whatever they feel will get them re-elected.

The way to stop these gun grabbers is to let them know that if they vote against our Freedom they will have to find a real job and stop sucking the Government teat.

Of course some States are just plain determined to give up everything—our liberty, our soverenty, our rights,in an effort to buy a peace they are not willing to fight for. They believe Peace is free. It isn’t. The past has proven that, but they still cannot be convinced.

Exactly. I had a liberal tell me that that was different but then he couldn’t explain it, other than it was a women’s choice. Pathetic. Of course what I do with my body via health care is their business.

You are at the “use or lose” point. I simply don’t think CWII is avoidable anymore.

It’s actually at a fever pitch far outside the US.

Actually, we need to push to outlaw the device used to perform an abortion. Then, when liberals object, we throw their gun logic right back at them.

Because abortion meets their agenda and gun ownership doesn't.

I believe in owning guns but what is wrong with background checks?

Gun control does not work. I can prove it by looking at the news in Chicago....just saying

“I simply don’t think CWII is avoidable.”

Sadly, I think you may be right. The worst thing that can ever befall a nation is a civil war. Unfortunately, but ironically, sometimes a civil war is the only thing that can save a nation. I pray we as a nation have not got to that point, but if it has, it has. I do think that this nation is more polarized today then at any time in its history — yes, even more polarized than 1861-1865. I also believe that if there is going to be a civil war, it will be the Left that starts it; then, the battle will be joined. God help us.

The problem with CWII is there is no critical mass, no nucleus to start from. Every state has more than one major city that is Democrat-Socialist to skew the electorate, and then there is your next door neighbor who likely votes Democrat, even in upper middle-class suburbs. No concentration of like-minded militia to nucleate around, just a bunch of lone wolves that would be easily rounded up and picked off by the DHS. A dark cloud has descended upon America, and the sky is fixing to open up and rain.

Sadly, arguing protecting Constitutional freedom may not win this argument.

Our children need to be in “safe” schools, ie armed security in some form.

Let the liberals argue that Sandy Hook was a safe school.

what is wrong with background checks?

It depends on who is doing the background check and for what purpose. It depends on what rules the checkers are using.

The current rules effectively impose a lifetime ban on gun possession by anyone who has ever been accused (not convicted) of "domestic violence". That eliminates an awful lot of divorced people from the club, as well as many who ever had a hard breakup with an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend.

One could thin the ranks even further by adding more conditions to the rules. You can bet this is coming.

Paranoid schizophrenics and convicted violent criminals "obviously" should not be allowed any weapons. Let's start there...

Ever been on medications for depression? How about prior counseling from a psychiatrist? Charged with a DUI? Any speeding tickets in your checkered past? Did you vote for the wrong political party?

No guns for you!

Background checks can be used as a means to protect the public. They can also be used as a tool to eliminate gun ownership altogether.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

What about sociopath control?

It does no good to keep removing weapons, when the severely mentally ill cannot legally be institutionalized (it violates their civil rights). It’s hard to even keep criminals—who have proven that they commit violent crimes—locked up.

“just a bunch of lone wolves that would be easily rounded up and picked off by the DHS.”

Really? Why don’t you tell us about all the outstanding combat training they’ve had and all the ribbons they wear from successful battles.

DHS has the full support of a large U.S. military complex: drones, satellite imagery, air support; millions of rounds of hollow-point ammo. After a battle, they go home for the day - where are you gonna go?

“After a battle, they go home for the day - where are you gonna go?”

What makes you think their homes will be standing? Buckling on a belt with a glock attached doesn’t make 400 pound slobs soldiers. It makes them slow and easy targets.

Now continue your fantasy and tell us about what great fighters the forecasters are at the National Weather Service. Will they be shooting millions of hollow-point rounds out their fat arses and hitting targets at 500 yards?

I wrote the following for another thread last week before Sandy Hook occurred, it seems even more prescient now.

I’ve been thinking about the possibility of an upcoming civil war. Any thinking, feeling human being should be scared out of their wits of the thought of one. With that said though... I have to admit that it’s pretty much inevitable. There is too much anger, too much hatred, too much loathing that has been building up for years now.

How it will start I have no idea, but unlike the last time it won’t be a war between the states. This time it will be a war on a true civil scale, neighbors or neighborhoods against each other, the citizenry against the bureaucracy. I feel that once it starts it will be true anarchy before the sides coalesce.

Historically most civil wars are instigated by the intelligentsia and some of the “upper crust” who for various reasons want to put themselves up even higher on the ladder looking down at the peons they have fooled into supporting the. In many ways this one is going to come about the same way. The College Professors who promote Marxist ideas, the MSM journalists and commentators that spread the ideas even further by slanted or even false news stories and memes.

And finally by our own elected officials and unelected bureaucrats in government. They do it by making up even more oppressive laws and regulations and turning the government into a “protection racket” demanding more and more money and resources all of the time to feed it’s unending appetites.

So how it will start is still unknown, how it will end is also. All I do know is that no one will emerge unscathed if it does.

What will these demodummies do when a “real” terrorist bombs a school, create a law against terrorists with bombs.

They want guns, all guns GONE. When we are armed, we have strength AGAINST dictatorship.
