No! We need rocket propelled ejection desks that can shoot through the roof and propel the kids at least 2 miles from the school.

Well typically students are very shy to voice anything that may sound politically incorrect when it comes to any group of them. I know because I was in a classroom with a professor of indoctrination and nobody, I will also blame myself, would speak out or give a strong contradictory viewpoint. I also will say that I don’t know how well-informed college students are nowadays about political issues like gun control.

Two times have I received alerts on my phone of an armed intruder who made it to either the Boca or Davie locations of FAU, the university I currently attend. Both of those alerts led to nothing except the inability for vehicles to come into the campus, possibly even to pick someone up. While I appreciate the alerts I cannot help but wonder if concealed carry would stop, or reduce, the inconveniences especially if these are only alerts to people entering college who just happen to have firearms.

One of the other posters told me, and another individual, that we have a lot more influence on our peers than we think. How active is your son regarding campus politics? Sounds like he has the ability to motivate people to speak about views that may not be par the course for college campuses. If this is normal for him, he could play an active role in the student government.

I would love to get into my debate class, at the Santa Fe Community College, and how I was the only one to volunteer to debate the pros of the Iraq War but that may make the thread veer off topic.

> OK........I absolutely don’t get this logic. This is what you get when everyone wants to be a Problem Solver, even somebody who thinks that we landed on Mars happens to have a solution. Didn’t Virginia Tech teach anyone(ironic I know) that there should be the option to allow guns in any place of education?

Politicians that haven’t been receiving enough attention are coming out of the woodwork just to flap their jaws and get noticed. It’s how they’re wired and I think history has proven you dont have to be intelligent to be a politician; all you need is a big mouth. Jackson is one of them.

I think a plain and simple bar that could be dropped across the classroom door to KEEP THAT DOOR SHUT

Hmmm. You may be on to something here.

Frankly, I'm not enthusiastic about arming the teachers. I've met a lot of them, and didn't entrust my kid to their care. Never mind, trust them to carry safely around my kid (or anyone else's, for that matter).

But the concept of a simple door bar should be easy enough for even the dimmest of them to grasp.

Gosh, that would make a great humor book: “The Wit and Wisdom of the CBC: From Sheila Jackson Lee to Hank “Guam Will Tip Over” Johnson.”

I still can’t post a picture but there is a great one here- an armed female Israeli teacher with elementary school children on a class outing.

THAT is what we need.

You’re probably right. Afterall how else do we know politicians like Hank Johnson, and Sheila Jackson Lee except for their ignorant and stupid statements?

That’s the truth. I lived in what I considered a solid conservative area (Rock Hill SC) for several years and had to put up with John Spratt. I wish they could have gotten rid of him before 2010.....I also regret that I moved before I could vote in the district to get rid of him. Sadly in the 6th Cong. District is mandated by the feds to be Majority black so they will ALWAYS be Democrat.

Sheila is barking mad, for sure, but there is a sane and affordable solution to limit future school shootings.

Each classroom could have a small hardened shelter built into it, where the door is barred from the inside. Communication means within the shelter can relay info, both when under attack or for informing all is under control.

It would be terrifying having to flee to such a shelter, but cement blocks can take bullets far better than flesh.

  1. Government manufactures problem

  2. Government creates program to solve manufactured problem

  3. Government program creates multiple unforeseen problems

  4. Government creates multiple programs to solve multiple problems it created

  5. Profit!

Great idea, Sheila.

That way, the next time a muderous (but intelligent) nutcase gets into a school, he can deploy the retractable walls and keep the police out.

Then he can hunt down and kill all the defenseless victims at his leisure, rather than just a few handfuls. Hey, maybe he’ll even have time to stop in the cafeteria for a government-sanctioned snack before he liquidates the lunch ladies.

I'm stuck with Bob Casey who, in a round of Jeopardy featuring himself, a box of rocks and a bag of hammers, would come in a distant third.
