I could live for centuries before the thought of banning citrus fruits independently entered my mind.
————————————————————————————————————————Agreed, though banning citron could be an exception. But then, it’s not really a fruit-fruit, so would not really be an exception.

Kumquats, OTOH, are somewhat similar to citron, so maybe they could be banned...or at least be subject to common sense controls and regulations as well.

In both cases there is no real reason for either to be in the hand of just anybody who happens to have a kitchen; instead, if they are really necessary for anyone not a government food preparation professional, then perhaps properly licensed and trained chefs and bakers could obtain and use them in small quantities, under carefully controlled conditions in regulated facilities, provided NO FRUITCAKES were prepared in the same facilities.

Now since there are also green cultivars of kumquats, commonly called limequats, that could technically be referred to as kumquats, since they have several seemingly superficial, but critical, characteristics in common; then, they, too, would of necessity, be included in the staute.

Limequats resemble their larger cousin, the key lime; and since, except to an expert, it is almost indistinguishable from a regular lime; and since their juices all contain many of the same compounds, we must also consider bringing them under the umbrella of the citron ban...which brings us to lemons and ultimately, grapefruit, the WMD of the citrus family....

...ugh, Mister Speaker, I note that the Esteemed Gentleman from California has proposed an amendment to include cultivated Brassicaceae species....

Not the mustards!?! I'm drawin' the line there, buddy.
Before long the Umbelliferaes will be under that umbrella.
No more carrot, only stick.
