Congressmen: Obama 'Reckless' to Arm Egypt with F-16 Fighter Jets
breitbart.com ^ | 12/29/12 | Michael Patrick Leahy

On Thursday Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX) criticized the Obama administration for sending twenty F-16 fighter jets to the new Muslim Brotherhood-dominated Egyptian government.

"It is reckless and unwise for the U.S. to give F-16s to Egypt and its new president/dictator, controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood," Poe explained. "This extremist group is notoriously anti-American and anti-Israel. The United States should not be arming a country ruled by a group that has the destruction of Israel in its charter."

It is FMF funding. . .Foreign Military Funding.

This is money we have in the fed bank in Denver and this money never leaves the US. They NEVER TOUCH IT.

The country (Egypt) puts in a request for some kit and then the US Government runs the source-selection and program. The requesting country, like Egypt, never touches the money and never picks the provider. That is all done by the US government.

We do this for Access, Influence and Infrastructure reasons.

Access, sending the stuff ensures we have physical access because we have to set it up and maintain it (they simply can’t do it no matter how much we train them). This also ensures we have access to political and military leadership—we must have access to leadership to maintain the program and monitor how it is being used. (And we can stop maintenance to ensure the kit is never used effectively).

Influence, this is a direct result of our access. We influence the country by teaching them the American way, the American way of the military operating under the political leadership and not to be a force of its own. Look at the way Egypt reacted when the riots began and the elections were held. Setting aside the MB winning, we saw the military sitting it out, not mowing down the people. . .and this is because we have been educating their officer corps for decades in our professional military schools, to try and bring the concept of military serving the people and not a person (president).

Infrastructure, we simply don’t have enough domestic buying of military kit to keep the factory door open and the R&D current. We sell to foreigners to ensure we keep the industrial capability to manufacture our gear rather than having to shudder the factories and then relying on France or the Russians to provide our weapons and platforms.

AND let’s not forget arms sales need congressional approval. For all transfers over 25M then congress has a role to play in approving or disproving the sale.

“Obama shares the Muslim dreams of a world under Sharia law.”

I despise Obama as much as anyone here, but I think it would be better to say that he is an anti-traditional American who sympathizes with Muslim terrorists in that they both hate American and want to reduce it’s power.

Obama sees arming and supporting Sharia loving Muslims as a way to “re-distrubute” world power away from the United States, which he views disparagingly.

I would not go so far to say that he is literally a Muslim. He is an atheist like his communist buddies.

I agree. These F-16s will become easy targets for IDF Pilots.

“I’m sure this approval sailed through without a hitch. Birds of a feather.”

Comrade obama personally spoke to each one of those F16s and they all swore an oath that none would hurt any one of his friends.

I would imagine this sale was started before the regime change.

A responsible administration would have delayed or cancelled the delivery but not hussein.

I just keep telling everyone, 'We are at war and the president of The United States, is on the wrong side."

Someone suggested it, and he approved it. I doubt he's the idea man, with regard to any subject, short of "Let's get ice cream!"

What a waste of good airplanes. The IDF will just shoot them down without breaking a sweat.

That is the most likely scenario, but we do have a long-standing habit of training a lot of Arabs to fly our platforms. Might be an occassional Ace among them to cause Israel some grief.

Oops....his expertise is the A-10. Got my planes mixed up. Clearly I am no expert but I knew who to ask.

Understood.

The A-10 is a real man’s jet, last of the cowboy flying. . .single-seat, BIG gun, lots of loiter time to do real damage.

Truly the “Fist of Gawd” when strafing.

Superb jet.

Should be around until 2030, with avionics and weapons upgrades along the way.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

It is a cultural thing. We know that you are only as good as you train. However, the arabs don’t agree. Their belief in inshallah (butt-wipe muslim moon gawd willing), no matter how hard you train or not train, if allah wills you will win, you win. . .and if you lose, you lose. You have no control over your destiny. Therefore, why bother training to be the best, just trust allah.

Awesome description. My husband is super tech on A10’s. He would agree with your opinion.

Problem with A10 is the mold is gone...company that made it folded...To keep them going takes a lot of work. It’s best they can do. I asked why not get a company to produce new ones but was told it was not cost effective.
