President Obama on Sunday said he would make gun control a priority in his new term, pledging to put his "full weight" behind passing new restrictions on firearms in 2013.

"I'm going to be putting forward a package and I'm going to be putting my full weight behind it," Obama said in an interview aired on NBC's "Meet the Press."

"I'm going to be making an argument to the American people about why this is important and why we have to do everything we can to make sure that something like what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary does not happen again."

The “leaders” are better targets than the “grunts”.

We shoot movie goers and children, but certain people never get a scratch. No wonder they keep coming.

Yes, I noticing that too.

““If the police and Feds really make an effort at confiscation, then, we will REALLY need our guns.”

Alot of good they will be to ya wayyyy down below the basement floor, or decorative pond.

Better to use them to fight another day when the odds are better for success. If one were to resist when the SWAT team is at the door, the media would falsely report that the police were engaged in a heroic action to disarm and quash a domestic terrorist that was planning to blow up some government installation.

Only the victors write history.

I have seen the results of both IED’s and EFP’s first hand. If it were to come to that, there are a large number of vets who are very familiar with their creation and employment.

You ask and answer your own questions, I say you don’t want an answer, you just want to bitch.
And my guess is that’s all you’ll do when the fighting starts.

"So what I intend to do is I will call all the stakeholders together. I will meet with Republicans. I will meet with Democrats. I will talk to anybody."

"Then I will do exactly what I had already planned to do, just like I always do."

Is there ANYONE who doesn't see through this "I will talk to anybody / I'm willing to listen / I'm open to all ideas" PR bullcrap that Obama pulls every time?

Oh, yeah. The 51% of the idiots that re-elected him.

Heck no, voting is their job, their job description is to keep their owners in office. Great pay, spend a few minutes a year voting, get food stamps, subsidized housing, welfare, free phones, free healthcare. They are the highest paid minutely workers ever in the entire universe.

...If you really want to beat this form militia’s to demonstrate, and stand with each other....

How did that work out for the Bonus Army? Eisenhower Patton and McArthur killed em and burned em out...against a more formidable force its guerilla warfare, underground, IRA.

Obies just waiting for a chance to kill more Americans, he controls Congress, The Judiciary, The FEDs, the Supreme Court and the Military until they break off and choose the other side. It would behoove everyone to start looking around to see who is a Patriot and who is an Obama Loyalist. I’m sure they have plenty of petition lists and data mining to have a huge list of their own.

To stand on principles, one must have principles.

Those who reject the argument that Zero retaining office due to the “principled” objections to Romney must accept at least partial responsibility for Zero being re-elected.

The failure of the so-called “purists” to think ahead places more in immediate and near term danger than the “purists” can comprehend. Much potential blood is on “your” hands.

Deal with it.

“Yeah, but you are ‘flinty’, to use an old term. ;)”

Thanks for the compliment.

I'm thinking there will be war and here's why:
I am so old I was a generation that was taught early history and I saw evidence of that early history at the grandparents in Arkansas. The civil war was just a few generations earlier than mine. As a result, my generation understood how our history evolved with people working hard every day to exist. My father was in WWI. We understood what these men went through “over there” and we sang that song, “Over There”.

I think I am the last generation to experience that fairly close history. The country has moved from improving its lot every year to not caring whether or not anything is produced as long as they have a nice life. There is no incentive to make things better as there was in generations before me and also my generation.

We are stagnant as a country and no one remembers how we got to the standard of living we now have, and that is why it is going away - these current generations just want “things” and have no idea how they are produced. The country is dying and these newer generations are caught up in complaining. Jobs continue to go away and it's getting worse. The discontented are stealing what they want.

My opinion is, there will be war in order to reset the country back to a producing country and a reasonable government - if the more conservative group manages to overthrow the liberal group. It's also possible the country will never recover if liberals rule. We may go as Rome and the British Empire did.

The government cannot stay on the present path because the path is based on nothing. If the government tries to take the guns in this country, there will be war. Some of you say the guns will be handed over easily. That is not true because we would know they want our guns. One cannot compare the guns taken up after Katrina because those gun owners were taken unawares - gun owners now know the score.

Yes, there will be gun owners who are afraid and will give up their guns easily, but we have multi-millions of guns and I think their owners are getting steel backs and gonads as the danger approaches.

I have a bodyguard just like high ranking government officials, and mine has a new red laser on it and it stays with me and I definitely mean that. I am not afraid of a government wuss. Maybe that is because I am old and don't give a damn anymore about being nice to scum.

You deal with it. I won't vote for a pro-abortion, anti-gun, Romneycare liberal. What part of that don't you understand?

You can blame me all you like, but your liberal candidate didn't win enough votes to take the prize. You own that.

Besides, my vote didn't count.

Your guy lost. The smart thing to do is take stock, see where you failed, and fix that failure.

The dumb thing to do is blame everyone but your liberal candidate. You aren't making any friends or garnering any future votes with the blame thing.

“How would they do this? What about all the illegal guns? Will the govt confiscate them? Would the feds search house by house?
I cant see that happening.”

I posted this yesterday on another thread:
From the viewpoint of the totalitarians, you don’t attempt to “come in waves”. You make a few examples first.

I would expect one of the first “examples” in confiscation to resemble something akin to the Little Rock school desegregation back in the 1950’s — i.e., government troops in full force at a specific location.

For the guns, the feds will select a southern city somewhere, but not a large one. Then they’ll appear in force with carefully chosen cadres of soldiers. The units will be “pre-filtered” so that none of the troops will be “from the south”, and many of them will be composed of (ahem…) “his people”. They will secure the local and regional gunshops first, so that they have access to sales records. With that info available to them, they’ll start “working the lists” and go house-to-house. Whatever force they are met with, they’ll respond with superior force. If they have to resort to a few “Wacos” or “Move-Ons”, well, so be it.

And they’ll be sure that the sycophant media is everywhere they are, with the video cameras on.

The examples will be made — enough of them so that every gun owner will understand what results are assured if they choose to resist at a personal level.

If it gets that far, “individual resistance” is going to become a very futile act — the equivalent of monks resorting to self-immolation. The only effective resistance will be group action, and even small groups of civilian resistors may make little impact. By that point, perhaps what will be needed is the action of entire states, supported by the legislatures of those states along with the National Guard units of those states acting under the authority of the governors.

Some will reply, “nonsense, won’t happen”. But the nation is clearly dividing, just as it did in 1861. What did Mr. Lincoln say about a “house divided”?

Which side owns Vietnam today?

The day you realize the kidz are grown and gone, and you have the house to yourself, and you own it outright, other than the yearly shakedown from the local protection racket... er, local government, is very liberating.

You can speak freely, and live that free life our founders intended.

I pray there isn't a war on this land. But if it comes, I expect I'll go like a moth in a flame. That's ok, too. God will know His own.

I agree.

They’re going for it all, and I don’t just mean guns.

I am just a hair younger than you, Marcella. But...

My great grandfathers fought in the Civil War-one on each side. I am related to a couple of folks, too, and know some bona fide heroes.

As a child, I remember seeing someone who ‘fought’ in the Civil War, probably as a drummer, as well as people who survived the Holocaust. I would see people in business who had soles of their shoes worn out from beating the streets.

My folks were swindled out of business deals a few times, but they knew and believed in themselves and their independence, so they kept on keeping on. They made sure that we kids knew history and saw death from an early age. To my dying day, I will remember my mother saying, “We will endeavor to have everything we NEED and a little of what we WANT.”

There was a muscular nature to the previous generations I knew and saw with my own eyes—one that I almost never see in anyone except someone with military bearing. It was and is in the way they carried themselves: proud, sturdy, and willing to work, not for cushiness but because it reflects a way of life.

What was all around me, in their eyes and bearing, was steel. I don’t see steel in shoeleather much anymore, but I look for it all the same. Should we not find it soon, we shall not see it again for a long time, except in pockets here and there. What we will see, though, is coming onshore fast and hard; it is not pretty and will cost us more than I’d say two generations have had to even think of paying.

I think 0bama and his handlers intend to bring war to us. Think of that word. ‘Intend.’
