Of course, this could all be a negotiating tactic, ask for the moon, take a trip to the space station instead. The left will settle on bans or extreme controls over firearms they categorize as assault weapons and upon magazines over 9 or ten rounds. Furthermore, they will try to restrict large volume ammo buys. Rush aptly noted yesterday how they portray the “second amendment” as a hunting amendment. Of course it was not, they are trying to reframe the amendment to fit their notion of reducing the ability of the serfs to wage war in defense of the constitution. They got their foot in the door with the FA of 1934, augmented that in 68. It seems like they come out of their cacoons every 40 or so years like the 17 year cicadas.
Yeah, and if you stick together enough tiny tidbits that "sound reasonable" in and of themselves, you end up effectively banning firearms ownership. And make no mistake, banning all civilian firearms ownership is the goal, and it is the ONLY goal. And "universal background checks"is just an incremental step by which to find out who has firearms.
There ARE reasonable things that can be done......allow widespread CCW with no license. End "gun free zones" everywhere. Mandate MUCH longer jail sentences for possessing a firearm during commission of a violent felony. Retain and expand "three-strikes" laws. Make it easier to commit the dangerously mentally disturbed.
This will not end pretty.
Obama is a Liberal he doesn’t need a logical reason or any good argument for gun control....to the left it’s simply enough that THEY don’t like something. If the left doesn’t like something they destroy it....it’s a mission to destroy all that their statist “Religion” tells them is evil.
They are on a relentless “Jihad”......If it stands in the way of absolute power then it has to go. The Constitution has been one of their enemies from the begining as it lays out what powers the GOV’t Shouldn’t have(or as lefties say “Negative Rights”.) To them the Gov’t should have the power to do anything.
Does that mean the shady guy that is selling stolen guns out of the back of his black van to felons, kooks and gang bangers will now have to run background checks since the government has declared them "universal"???
What this article says to me is that the gun grabbers realize that they are in the minority on this issue. They thought the Sandy Hook massacre would sway enough of the public’s opinion to their side on the issue of gun rights to bring them to the majority position, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
So, once again, it’s not that there is a flaw in their thinking, it’s just that the issue hasn’t been couched in the proper terms.

I’m still waiting for Obama and the DemoQuacks to identify what gun law — other than outright bans and confiscation — could have prohibited the recent mass shooting tragedies.
By the way, where the heck are all the GOP politicians to defend the Second Amendment right now? Why aren’t they taking to the airways with people who saved their lives and those of others by having a gun? Why aren’t they emphasizing the failure of the government to protect the people along the border and in the cities from the heavily-armed Mexican drug cartels? The silence from the GOP is deafening.
It seems that the fix already is in place for more onerous regulations on the matter.
If he thinks guns are ickie, then he needs to disarm his heavily armed SS police force he is putting together and his SS cover that polishes his butt.
