BURLINGTON - A deaf man was stabbed several times Wednesday after another man mistook sign language for gang signs, according to police. The victim was walking down East Morehead Street at 5:10 p.m., using sign language with another man who was also deaf, said Burlington police staff Sgt. Mark Yancey.

Robert Jarell Neal was in the yard of his home at 715 E. Morehead St. when he saw the pair and thought they were showing gang signs, according to a witness, Yancey said.Neal stabbed the 45-year-old victim several times with a kitchen knife, according to police.
If this doesn't prove we need more "assault weapon" control, nothing ever will.
What a maroon! The attacker wasn’t in a gang either.

Something like this happened a couple years ago in Florida, as well. As far as not being in a gang goes, he's got a lot of ink on his neck for being a common member of the local gentry.

A little deaf boy named Hunter was informed by his school he couldn’t use sign language for his name because it looked too much like a gun.
It is time for public executions. Unfortunately, the government doesn’t understand that and would only use public executions to kill those who stand up for what is right. This nation is lost.
Forget the fact that he stabbed a man, he’s violated the Americans with Disability Act! Now he’s really in trouble, that’s practically a hate crime. Wouldn’t want to be him.
Yout gangs are much more dangerous than guns. Get the gang members locked up in solitary and the violence goes down.
We sdhould IMMEDIATELY BAN SIGN LANGUAGE- Sign language is ismply too provacative and causes gang members to become violent- peopel who sign are instigators who provoke gang members, and as such ALL sign language for hte deaf only of course, should be banned and made illegal- there’s an epidemic i nthis country of signers who have been styabbed by gang mamembers, and it’s clear that soemthign needs to be doen to prevent gang members from becoming upset- Signers have CLEARLY decided that they are goign to continue provoking gang members, and signers must be stopped- These poor gang members were non violent immediately prior to the signing, and this is a clear indication that signers must be stopped before gang bangers all across the country go on a rampage-
Blame the signers folks NOT the gang members
In fact, let’s take it one step further and restrict all access by deaf peopel to sign language courses and material- obviously it’;s the material that caused this tragic stabbing- and it it hadn’t been for this material, and hadn’;t been for hte fact that the deaf person learned to sign, this tragedy woudl not have taken place-
Who’s with me? Let’s petition congress to put a stop to deaf people learnign sign language so that gang members don’t get confused, angry, upset, and violent-
Perhaps deaf peopel shoudl also be mentally evaluated- it’s clear that they intnetionally provoke gang bangers, and as suchm, they need a mental health exam me thinks- it’;s clear that deaf peopel need to be locked away forever- they are a menace to society-
