NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- A doctor was fatally shot in an examination room of an Orange County medical office, and the man who police believe shot him was taken into custody in the same room without a struggle, authorities said.

That's why I have had armed security and cameras in my clinic for the last 6 months. As patients become more frustrated with waiting and rationing, this is going to become more common.

Witnesses told several media outlets the doctor was a urologist.

After reading the headline, I was wondering if the police had sent the perp for a psychological exam before sentencing. I guess he just was a nutball who didn't like visiting a urologist. No one does. But still . . . .

Maybe the kids in Sandy Hook made too much noise passing by the evil bastard who shot them (I refuse to use his name). There may be some other justification for shooting someone, but self defense or defense against unwarranted aggression would be the gold standard. I have a real difficult time seeing how this could be the case here.

The neuro surgeons office here in Reno I went to had a sign stating “no weapons allowed on the premises”. But they didn’t ask if I had any weapons.
