Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has unveiled the country's newest fighter jet, which officials claim can evade radar.
Ahmadinejad said at a Saturday ceremony broadcast on state TV that Qaher-313, or Dominant-313, showed Iran's will to "capture peaks."
Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi says Qaher is "fully indigenous," designed and built by Iranian aerospace experts. The domestically designed and developed Qaher-313 is similar to the US-built F/A-18, the report said.
Photos released by the official IRNA news agency shows Qaher as a single-seat jet, described as a fighter-bomber that can combat both other aircraft and ground targets.

Watch out Eddie, they're gonna capture your peak!
Lots of high resolution pictures --> HERE
looks like the Chinese weren’t the only ones to get those F-22 plans.
how anyone can say this administration is helping the US with a straight face is beyond me. I see the results of treason almost every day
Our own aerospace companies probably sold them the plans and are living like kings
Each plane comes with a prayer rug.
It’s a mock-up. It has to be. Go look at the pics on the site, particularly those showing the canopy close-up. Note the amount of distortion and imperfections. Also, there’s not a whole lot of equipment in that instrument panel, to say nothing of any room in the nose for sensors.
It looks like a cheap prop made with plywood, elmers, and krylon semi gloss. Look how high the pilot sits in the cockpit. Not worried ...
That photo and the first one at the link you posted screams “MOCKUP” to me. Look at the fit and finish on the nose of this “aircraft”. It looks more like the canvas skin of a Sopwith Camel rather than a supersonic air superiority platform.
If it does, it won't last two minutes once it encounters one of America's best and brightest in the air.
You can copy the technology all you want, absent the knowledge, training and experience to use it, it's useless. Our boys will prove that easily if Iran's dumb enough to put one up against us.
At first I thought it was a small model plane. But from the close-ups with the man sitting in it, it looks like papier mache.
“Each plane comes with a prayer rug.”
...that doubles as a parachute.
Yeah, that’s a funny little fake airplane.
Looks like one of those knock off second’s windshields body shops used to install on wrecks.
It’s a fiberglass mock-up. A faux-fighter.
Looks like fiberglass lay-up (see where the light is shining on the side), rather than radar evading material...lol.
I’ve looked over all the photos.
There a a lot of things wrong with this “fighter”.
First, its too small. It is about 1/2 scale.
Second, The engine intakes and exhaust are tiny, even for the 1/2 scale size. It would barely produce enough power to take off.
Third, the canopy glass is wavy, looks like plastic. Also there isn’t sufficient room to close the canopy withthe pilot seated.
Fourth, no lock down hooks on the canopy mechanism. Further, the hold-open mechanism is offset on one side, not centered, and looks like it is just a stick to wedge it open.
Fifth, no HUD.
Sixth, Aerodynamically, this thing is a mess. The Canards are fixed, not fully pivoting (like all supersonic control surfaces). The canards are inline with the rear wings; the resulting flow over the rear wings would be disruptive. The chord of the rear wing appears to be incredibly thick, only suitably for bi-plane speeds. And what of those bent-down tips? You only see that in the movies.
Seventh, the landing gear is almost certainly borrowed from one of their F-5s, but no apparent retraction capability exist for the rear assemblies.
I’m very confident saying that this is a prop made out of plywood, sheet metal and plastic.
I was thinking the same thing. Its a prop to re-assure the masses.
“...no pilot would ever survive a dogfight or land the thing looking through that canopy. “
Very astute observation!
It’s no mistake that there are no pictures of this thing in the air. It looks like those planes from the movie “Hot Shots”.
Hope they build fighter jets better than they build oil derricks.
I think it might be made of sugar. Cake Boss technology.
I wonder how they got the aircraft up onto the turntable, ramps? No gantry crane visible.
This is a very small "aircraft", about the size of an A-4, I'd guess.
Not much room for a radar dish in the nose. Can't see out of the canopy worth a hoot, and feeble radar. It will need all the "stealth" it can get!
Moderator, please delete this photo or the whole comment. The photo takes too long to load, & I have a 10-30 mbs connection.
“I’m too close (it’s too slow), switching to guns!”
If that is a real plane, does it fly? No photos showing it airborne. I agree with the others, it looks like a mockup to me.
Where does the main landing gear go when its retracted? I don’t see any evidence of internal weapons stores or hard points. No gun or a place to mount one. No way to mount external fuel stores. No glare shield covering the instrument panel. They show the helmet on top of exposed instrument wiring. The head rest on the ejection seat is in between the pilot’s shoulder blades. His knees are chest level. No nozzle on engine exhaust. The fuselage appears to have skin that was heat shrunk.
The last time I saw something like that it was parked in front of the Piggly Wiggly for a quarter a ride.
LOL that freakin thing looks ridiculous. I’d wager the damned thing cannot even fly!!!
Everything in Arabic except the F-313 on the side of this balsa wood wonder.
I wish I could post that in Farsi...
Is that a DVD burner on the top of the panel?
I'm sitting here in my moccasins, mocking a mock-up that'll never see mach speed.
One thing I have to admire in the Iranians, at least their leaders try when they lie.
Is it normal for a fighter pilot to fly with his knees up against his chest? The cockpit looks more cramped than usual for a fighter plane.
Looks like it to me.

The canopy apparently has some new high tech glass that does not allow light to go through without distortion.
Plus if you look at the wrinkles in body of the plane, the Iranians have also apparently discovered some new aerodynamic properties that utilize the wrinkles.
The body also appears to be made out of a stealthy radar evading material similar to plywood.
ROFL that is nothing more than a stage prop. Go luck at the pictures. I bet we never see pictures of it in flight.
It combines the aerodynamics of a sledge hammer, the ruggedness of tissue paper, the responsive control of a 1970 Buick and the reliability and safety features of a Yugo. All in one package.
Well, now that Canada has dropped out of the F-35 program, maybe we could get a good deal on some of these high tech wonders. I would imagine they would be inexpensive seeing as how the labour costs must be minimal. Providing of course that they come in other colours than “Baby Poop Brown”.
None are needed with the new Iranian technology.
This image shows President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, trying out the new Iranian heads up display sunglasses. These high tech sunglasses actually double as a glare shield.
The canopy is distorted and looks like cheap greenhouse window quality plexiglass. It sits so high and is not consistent with the square edge design of the fuselage and would obviously fly off if the plane even approached take off speed, much less the speed of sound.
If this is the quality of their aircraft technology then we need not worry too much about their nuclear technology. They will blow themselves up before they will be able to use their weapons against anyone else.
It should be actually be a drone with a pup tent duct taped on top of it...
Iran tests Ali Z28 Missile.
This is obviously a wood prototype that is covered in cloth or shrink wrap.
