Ex-cop manhunt: Fresh tracks found in Big Bear snow

Authorities in Big Bear have spotted fresh tracks believed to be those of a fugitive ex-Los Angeles police officer wanted in connection with a series of shootings and are combing the area for him, a Fire Department official told The Times.

Big Bear Lake Fire Department Asst. Chief Mark Mills also said the burning pickup discovered on a forest road has been linked to Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, sought in connection with a series of shootings that have left three people dead and two wounded.

TV helicopters showed the pickup being readied to be towed from the scene.

The truck was discovered hours into an intensive manhunt for Dorner that spanned Southern California. Although sources said there had been multiple reported sightings of Dorner's truck in the Big Bear area on Thursday, the burnt truck was too badly charred to immediately confirm it was his.

Meanwhile, the mountain community locked down schools and closed the nearby Bear Mountain Resort as a fatigue-clad SWAT team walked through the woods, rifles drawn.

Sean Jacques, director of loss prevention for Big Bear Mountain Resorts, said that after the burning truck was discovered on a forest service road, local law enforcement told resort officials to keep an eye out for Dorner and provided a description of the suspect.

When someone writes something described as a “manifesto”, the story usually doesn’t end well.
I expect to see this Obama loving POS taking a few innocents out with him.

It sounds like someone who absorbed all the crap the race baiters have been spreading around LA for decades.

Democratic Underground is holding him up as a folk hero after reading his manifesto.

100% unsurprised here.

It's not a novel, bro. People are dead and on slabs because of this guy. More may wind up there. It's as ugly as reality comes.

"As with the Unibomber, liberals will find much to agree with in his manifesto."

As with the unibomber, sane people will find it the work of a fevered mind. Certainly Kaczynski was off his beam, but there is much in his manifesto that would not look out of place on FR, particularly in regards to his observations on the psychology of modern leftism, feminism, homosexuals, etc. Just one example:

Leftists tend to hate anything that has an image of being strong, good and successful. They hate America, they hate Western civilization, they hate white males, they hate rationality. The reasons that leftists give for hating the West, etc. clearly do not correspond with their real motives. They SAY they hate the West because it is warlike, imperialistic, sexist, ethnocentric and so forth, but where these same faults appear in socialist countries or in primitive cultures, the leftist finds excuses for them, or at best he GRUDGINGLY admits that they exist; whereas he ENTHUSIASTICALLY points out (and often greatly exaggerates) these faults where they appear in Western civilization. Thus it is clear that these faults are not the leftist's real motive for hating America and the West. He hates America and the West because they are strong and successful.

"Has anyone checked on what they're saying about it at DU and KOS?"

I wonder what DUmmies think of his upper echelon anti-male lesbians accusations (He even threw in the word "misogynist" in there, lol) of targeting males?

Gives me a warm fuzzy. I live in the area and except for the color, that truck looks like mine. Some fine police work indeed. Guess I am lucky to have gotten to work this morning.

Gotta admit he’s got a point there. But most of the Unibomber’s manifesto was from a leftist perspective, wasn’t it?

“A sniper in a chopper will be happy to comply.”

I believe his manifesto said he had manpads.

A couple of years ago, a local guy killed his girl friend then another guy. I don’t remember the details but the other guy was apparently just in the wrong place.

He went into the woods near a river. Even here in Florida it gets cold at night so I figured he might succumb to the elements.

Unfortunately again if my memory is right, an leo with a tracking dog found him, then got into a shootout and the bad guy won with a .22 rifle. Of course then his time was over and a bunch of lawmen killed him.

It turned out he had been camping in a tent and even building fires.

He could be self-delusional full of s***. He believes he has the skill of Rambo or Superman but reality may slap him that he isn’t as skilled as he claims.

He definitely has a separation from reality and consequences as indicated in part by the section where he talks about the guy using the ‘n’ word and wishing he had just shot the guy. There is no sense of scale of his reaction to what he was reacting to. To him, killing someone is equal in consequence to using an insulting word.

Along these same lines, more than a few liberals found Timothy McVeigh sympathetic after reading his writings in which he characterized the United States as an imperialistic bully. Towards the end, McVeigh was writing letters to arch leftist Gore Vidal asking him to take his case to the public.

It was all over the political spectrum, but when I first read it, I was kind of scared at how much I actually agreed with...especially the first half or so; he kind of breaks left in the latter sections. In the lead up to the 2000 election there was a cutesy little quiz going around the internet asking people to identify various quote as being from either algore's "Earth In The Balance" or from the Unibomber Manifesto. While amusing, I cringed, because the left could have just as easily pulled quotes and asked if they came from Limbaugh or Robert Bork.

Could be, but his bio and his Navy awards and ribbons aren't something you get in crackerjacks or at Sunday school.

He's got the training.
