Suspected witch bound, tortured, burned alive in Papua New Guinea

A mob stripped, bound, tortured then burned to death a woman accused of witchcraft in Papua New Guinea, as hundreds of witnesses — including children — watched and took photographs.

The pictures were published on the front pages of the Oceania nation’s largest circulation newspapers, Associated Press reports.

Police officers were also present but were outnumbered and could not save the woman, he said. There is an internal investigation under way into what action police at the scene took.

Makes you wonder if the cops were armed.

Syncretism is a real problem, and the churches are not aggressive enough in combatting native beliefs and making sure their “Christians” have really abandoned them.
