Parents gain access to secret school curriculum

AUSTIN, Texas – Parents of school children across Texas now are gaining access to a previously secret public school curriculum, according to an announcement from a state lawmaker.

The CSCOPE program, an online offering that until now has prohibited, under penalty of law, teachers from sharing the lessons with parents, stirred up controversy because of its various lessons – some that were taken offline after the questions arose.

Among those issues were that the curriculum at one point taught the Boston Tea Party was an act of terrorism and Christians were cannibals, and forced students to draw a socialist flag while imagining a new socialist country.

Teachers also would have been exposed to criminal penalties for sharing CSCOPE lesson content with parents, and educators were required to teach strictly from the CSCOPE lesson plan, without additions or changes.

But Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, whose Texas Senate Education Committee held a public hearing last week investigating CSCOPE, said there now have been “significant changes.”

The Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative, which owns CSCOPE, agreed to the following changes, effectively immediately, he said.

Those include: •All future meetings of the TESCCC governing board, beginning with the February meeting, will be public with all the respective notice requirements being met. •The TESCCC will begin a joint review process of all CSCOPE lessons with the SBOE beginning ...........

The Texas governorship is one of the weakest in the 50 states, by design.

Governor Perry doesn’t have jurisdiction over the TEA.

...but is still able to spend about 150 billion to build toll roads in Texas for foreign countries goods shipments, using foreign companies and foreign labor (NAFTA Superhighway nonsense)

Psst... all he has to do is “not sign any education bill that has this crap in it”.

That’s what I want to know: Who came up with this crap? They obviously knew it was not acceptable, or they would not have insisted that it be kept secret from parents. Somebody needs to find out who came up with this, including making it secret from the kids, and whoever it was needs to be publicly exposed, together with their agenda, and fired.

The catch 22 of compulsory education.
In the hands of an over-administrated and unionized bureaucracy, it devolved into a make-work project of indoctrination, not education.

Everyone has horror stories, so I won't bore you with all of mine.

Suffice it it say, that a mid level administration bureaucrat at my my child's school, clearly stated that it was actual school policy to refuse every student's personal preferences, regarding teachers and schedule, simply on the basis that the student stated an individual preference.

Think about that for just a moment...

IDK. There must be some truth to this, but IDK how much. We're from Katy (just west of Houston) and lived next door to an elementary teacher that taught at my daughter's school.

I know if there was anything like this at all being forced on teachers to teach, we would have heard about it. Our neighbor would not have gone along with this, much less have remained silent about it (she's no liberal), no matter what. There has to be more like her, not only in KISD, but in other districts.

I don't think they need to be abolished.

I think they all DO need to be quickly purged of over 75% of current non-teaching staff positions.

I also think the Federal Dept. of Education needs to be entirely abolished.

It’s worse than just this, have you looked around the country lately? When are people going to do more than look at other places to send their kids?

Yes, the federal department should be abolished.

Many of those teachers should be fired too. Whoever decided and teaches that 11 year olds (heck, any of them under 18) should be handed condoms and told to have at it sexually should be imprisoned.

How about “significant firings” or “significant arrests?”

DAMN IT ALL!

I'm so angry I could go for "significant summary executions."

If revealing the contents of the course could be punished with criminal prosecution, then SOMEBODY created that policy or voted for it. The people who implemented that policy need to be revealed to the public as the scumbags they are, and they need to be fired, and possibly even charged with civil penalties, if the state has any sort of "Sunshine Laws."

At the very least they need to be revealed to the public and displayed for public ridicule.

I humbly think that whoever made the decision to use this should be taught an old fashion lesson themselves. That lesson is what tree limbs and rope are used for on occasions like this. If this might be a little EXTREME and perhaps get me on some stinking list...so frickin be it! BTW...FUBO!
