The Amazing Grace restored to America by Dr. Ben Carson
Canada Free Press ^ | February 9, 2013 | Judy McLeod

A phenomenon we all needed came into our view at National Prayer Breakfast 2013, and it couldn’t have come along at a better time.

The phenomenon in the person of Dr. Ben Carson didn’t just upstage President Barack Obama when he spoke at Thursday’s National Prayer Breakfast, he restored amazing grace to a loudly-lauded event.

How can we take to heart an event touted as “inspirational” and beneficial to federal government officials when they piously break breakfast bread before returning to careers duking it out in House and Senate?

How sincere can proclaimed Christianity be in an atmosphere where the Ave Maria is sung at a 3,500-attendee gathering presided over by a president who champions partial birth abortion?

So he said stuff you agree with?

Maybe stuff you have said your own self?

So why should we be lauding him instead of you, since y’all said & believe the same things?

Sorry, but when the fawning starts, my hearing stops.

I enjoyed Dr. Carson's speech moment by moment. I noticed that the more Dr. Carson spoke the more he got under Obama’s skin and the more he got under his skin the more Obama’s nose would lift towards the sky! Obama’s nose is the perfect Barometer!

Obama cannot compare to Dr. Carson...in intelligence or purpose. In no way is Obama fit to do more than to shine his shoes.

So when does the media discover a treasure trove of emails to his girlfriend or boyfriend? The man must be destroyed.

No reason why he shouldn't be lauded. He gave a great conservative speech. Nor should he be anointed. We don't know enough about him yet. But he has balls and is a breath of fresh air. Let him throw his name in the hat with Rubio, Ryan, Christie, Palin, or whoever else wants to run in 2016. This guy could be the real deal. It's hard to say he doesn't make perfectly good sense.

It's hard to say he doesn't make perfectly good sense.

So do a lot of folks who don't try to gain fame for doing so.

Agreed, we don't know enough about him yet.

Does his statement differ in any significant way from your own?

If not, then how is he any better than you?

God, I hates me some fawning.

I'm not saying he's any better than us or you. Just saying he's in a good position to make a bigger impact than some of us. And I’m not fawning.

I hates when people accuse me of doing it when I'm not.

Good grief. You sound like you’re just looking for a rumble. No one fawned over him. People respect what he said, where he said it and in front of whom he said it. Why is that agitating you so?

No one said he’s better than any of us. But he’s a more public figure than most, so the public platform helps to shine a spotlight on his speech. Would the exact speech garner the same attention if you had given it? I’m going with no on that.

How about if you had given it?

You agree with it, right?

Are you trying to gain fame and fortune and notoriety?

I’m going with no on that.

Yeah, me too.

I'm just saying let's not fawn all over someone who says the same things we do.

Lord knows that was offensive enough with that Alaskan reality chick.

No that I am anywher near a bible thumping, perfect person in his eyes, but I do make an effort, and I recognize that I fail, and fail miserably sometimes...

I believe God wants to bestow so much upon this country and its people, both grace aqnd blessings, more than we can imagine...

But until we the people show a genuine, humble approach to our beliefs, do what we can to restore the VIRTUE in ourselves, and those we elect into office to represent us, how can we honestly expect to be a blessed nation???

We know a reckoning is coming, and we might not be able to stop any additional, self-destructive future before us...

I still believe we can correct the problem by understanding that we need to put this in God’s hands and have the faith to let him guide us out of these troubled times...

I admmit that I am at times very distracted and lose focus of the need to be a virtuous person...Life is not an easy road, the challenges before us are great, but we can do things as individuals to get our own houses in order, and inspire others to do the same...Its a start, and one that is probably a good thing to do regardless...

I tend to shoot from the hip and try to not offend others when I get on these rants, but these are things that have been bugging me for a long time, and are just now starting to manifest themselves in the serious statements I make when the time comes...

I recognize that I have a long way to go, and I also believe I will not be a perfect example, or deserving of any considerations, blessings or grace...But I will do what I can when and where I can to bring what comes from the heart to others and maybe say the right thing at the right time for someone else...

/rant ;-)
