Feds buying 100 years worth of ammo

When the numbers are put in perspective, the federal government’s extraordinary buildup of ammunition looks even more ominous than critics already have portrayed it.

An analysis by Forbes contributor Ralph Benko shows the 1.6 billion rounds of ammo that the government is acquiring would be enough for more than 100 years of training. As WND previously reported, it also would be enough ammunition to fight a war for more than 20 years.

It would give the federal government enough ammunition to shoot every American more than five times. Concerned about surveillance drones, tanks in the streets and gun confiscation? Find out “HOW AMERICA IS BECOMING A POLICE STATE” in this shocking WND special report.

The Department of Homeland Security argues it is buying in bulk to save money, explaining it uses as many as 15 million rounds a year for training law enforcement agents.

Forbes columnist Benko, who worked for two years in the U.S. Department of Energy’s general counsel’s office in its procurement and finance division, doubts the government’s explanation.

“To claim that it’s to “get a low price” for a ridiculously wasteful amount is an argument that could only fool a career civil servant,” he writes.

But it’s not just the amount of ammo the feds are buying, it’s the type of ammo that’s also is causing concern.

WND has reported the DHS order apparently......

I think you are right, SD......and it sickens me to even try to fathom what is happening to our country.

Also both Army and Marine forces are being drastically reduced. Is that the move to make before taking on the civilian population?

It is the move to make if Obozo is cutting out those who won't follow his orders to shoot citizens.

I'm sorry I don't see any link to a second page there. I'm not accusing you of being conspiratorial, yorkie, I just don't think 0bama is going to try a military coup. As for FEMA camps the right kept talking about those all through Clinton's terms, the left kept talking about them through Bush's terms and now the right is talking about them again through 0bama's terms. I have yet to see any credible evidence that any such camps exist.

If FEMA can't find housing for a few tens of thousands of New Yorkers and New Jersyeans after Hurricane Sandy how are they going to round up millions and put them in camps? The Feds can't round up 15 million illegal aliens.

The reason I don't think 0bama will have a military coup is because there is a coup underway as we speak. The communists are making a coup on the Constitution in state houses all over the country and working on it in the U.S. Congress. It's not about 0bama it's about communists and if he tried his own coup with the military they would make a corpse man out of him faster than Michelle can suck down a lobster tail.

He couldn't move against them anyway because there are no visible people fronting it and no visible organization to go after. There's no one and nothing to send an army after. He's the one that's fronting for them and they're not going to let him mess it up by trying to stay in office past two terms and upsetting the sheeple. Why would he want to? He's going to be a multi-billionaire with lifetime SS protection and no more spotlight to attract assassins when he leaves office. And he really hates to work.

See post #44. 175k soldiers and 125k Marines (assuming 100% follow orders and fire on brothers, fathers, mothers, sisters) just aren’t enough to go up against 11 million armed citizens. Won’t happen.

How many M1A2's do you have in your garage? How many fighter jets do you have available to resist the Feds with? How many bunker busting bombs might you have access to? How many nukes? 300,000 troops with the technology they have to unleash against We The People, who have NO such weapons gives them an edge. And, that is only counting the Army and Marines, leaving out USAF and Navy numbers.

If what I'm reading about the GOP "elites" moving towards making deals on gun control with Obozo has any merit, then We The People are in deep kimshee.

How many urban bombings do you think the citizenry of this country will tolerate? How many dead lib kids, soccer moms and grannies as collateral damage will they tolerate?

Where did you get the idea that anyone will go out to fight the armed forces?

They have all that yes, but do you realize how big, populous, and armed this country is? Their logistics will be brutal, especially in the cities.

Start bombing things and the tax base goes to hell. Cutting off your nose to spite your face. But frankly we don’t have enough aircraft to cover the CONUS 24/7 effectively, especially with our troops so spread out.

The govt would be outnumbered 500 or more to 1 and attacked 24/7. As we learned in Mogadishu, there is a point when the military is just overwhelmed.

Who would the military attack me? I’m just a guy living in a house. Why would they send a tank here or bomb me from the air?

As WND previously reported, it also would be enough ammunition to fight a war for more than 20 years.

??? Based on casualties in WWII it would have barely covered a day or so of global combat. Took approximately 300,000 rounds small arms ammunition expended for every combat fatality IIRC.

Granted, a LOT of that is suppressing fire, and the actual casualties were primarily from artillery. Still, it's a LOT of ammo if you're on the side that just tends to expend pistol rounds into the back of peoples skulls kneeling by a ditch...

For Iraq & Afghanistan, the US fired an estimated 250,000 for every insurgent killed. These are trained military.

Based on the original DHS buy of 670M rounds they’d be able to take out 2680 people and that’s only if they knew what they were doing. The majority are fay useless POS.

Remember there’s 300M plus guns in America owned by approx 88M people. If just 2% get pissed, that’s 1.76M armed people with 3.4 guns each.

I’m talking about:

- Collecting firearms sales/transfer records from gun stores on a massive, national scale.

- Pouncing on small, local “militia groups”, across the country, in somewhat rapid succession.

- Attempts to enforce statewide registration of currently owned firearms, in states that don’t currently require such.

- Attempts to enforce bans on “Assault Weapons”, that require turn-in or confiscation.

So others have context:

I’m talking about having these warning signs:

- Collecting firearms sales/transfer records from gun stores on a massive, national scale.

- Pouncing on small, local “militia groups”, across the country, in somewhat rapid succession.

- Attempts to enforce statewide registration of currently owned firearms, in states that don’t currently require such.

- Attempts to enforce bans on “Assault Weapons”, that require turn-in or confiscation.

You might want to crack open a few history books. When the Left gets into the business of changing a nation on a grand scale, there are millions and millions of victims, EVERY time. The Killing Fields in Cambodia took 25% of the ENTIRE population. I'm sure the majority of them also wondered why the government would ever want to focus on little old insignificant them, too. The Left simply doesn't CARE if you're a good guy, a bad guy, a neutral, or an unlucky fella... when the shooting begins, they only care about being near the top of the few left standing. The more dead, the greater their chances of being nearer to the top.

Russia, repeatedly... China, repeatedly... Cambodia... North Korea... VietNam... Bulgaria... East Germany... Romania... Hungary... Afghanistan... Zimbabwe... Ethiopia*... No matter how many times history records examples as cautionary tales, there is no shortage of folk who want to follow the same path on their way to the top of the control ladder.

* Ethiopia is one of my favorite examples of the perils of Socialist control. Ethiopia in the 1960's, like Zimbabwe in the 1980's, was a net food EXPORTER!! Oklahoma State University had a vigorous program that helped farmers immensely, and it was working nicely... until... the Socialist government took over "just a little more" control of the economy. Today, Ethiopia is now known simply for starvation, and has been for decades. The Socialists are still in control there, not too coincidentally. As in Zimbabwe, the rulers decided that the productive farms were better for "the people" if they were taken and given to others (who had never turned a farm into a commercial success). Those farms have not been productive since, and millions continue to starve, and those national economies continue to be among the worst in the world.

And yet people are still seduced by the class warfare rhetoric. It is utterly amazing that this meme continues to survive, even after almost a half-billion souls lost in the previous century.

Good economic conditions are more forgiving to idiots. In terms of providing basic necessities and also increased protection from their own stupidity. Look at all the inane warning signs today that are meant to keep idiots alive. They used to die from stupidity and remove themselves from the gene pool.

The problem is they eventually outbreed the producers and the system collapses. When they become the majority, we see incredible attempts to protect people from themselves and restrict the freedom of ALL. Things like the NYC soda law.

“The government may be able to buy all of that ammo, but how many people do they have to use it?”

Well, according to the DU and Soros trolls on FR, those fat 400-pound, 50 IQ slugs pushing papers at the National Weather Service and IRS will suddenly turn into 10-foot tall Rambos when given a pistol. They will have the ability to shoot thousands of cop-killer bullets out their arses and hit every target at 3,000 yards. They fear nothing because they’re protected by Obuma magical ju-ju beads.

Sure, the fed has lots of neat weapons...and all of them need massive maintenance and fuel they will not get from us if they attack us.

Lets not forget, those military attacking us would also be attacking their own families.
