Texas Gov. Rick Perrys 2012 presidential campaign was a slow-motion train wreck, capped off by his embarrassing brain freeze in a nationally televised debate. But as Perry mulls another presidential race in 2016, its striking that he was campaigning on many of the reforms that Republican Party leaders are now desperately pushing.
Republicans have spent the past several months figuring out how to win over more Hispanic voters, moderating their tone on immigration, pitching education reform as a significant issue, and they have reaped the political benefits of challenging President Obama on balancing budgets and reforming entitlements. On all those counts, Perry was a candidate ahead of his time.

If Perry hadn’t of been the worst debater in presidential history, he would be president right now, and there’s a good chance Palin would have been his VP

Why not just kill the Dept of Ed?
I liked Perry well enough in the campaign, but the media will never let him forget the brain freeze. He's done. Finished at the national level -- why waste time on him?
And politicians have to give up on pandering: decide on your principles and then sell those principles.(HINT: Moderating your tone on immigration does not qualify as a principle.)
I expect several of the retreads from the 2012 primaries to jump in and see how they do.
They were, after all, such a stellar group. [/s]
Santorum is hinting.
Huckabee is hinting.
JebB is hinting.
Ryan is hinting.
Paul is hinting (and not to subtly).
Rubio is hinting.
Christie is hinting.
Carson is hinting.

Every cycle, we seem to start out with a dozen to a dozen-and-a-half of wannabes.
Too bad that none of the names that have hinted so far for 2016 are very stellar candidates.
Perry is a proven loser.
Next?
Perry talks a good game, but some things he has done concerning the trans texas corridor worry the hell outta me...
His heart is in the right place, but his head keeps going out to lunch.
Another has-been/never-will-be.
LOSER TRAIN...ALL ABOARD! Choo choo.
“Texas Gov. Rick Perrys 2012 presidential campaign was a slow-motion train wreck...:
After almost 200 years of railroads in America and countless train wrecks, you would think that train wreaks would have have a bit more respect than to endure a comparison to the Rick Perry 2012 campaign.
This part is definitely true. Perry is terrific on most issues. It's a shame he was such a poor debater last time around. Maybe a little too Texan for the country right now too? I actually kind of hope he gives it another shot in 2016. I would be open to supporting him if he significantly improves his debate performances.
and theres a good chance Palin would have been his VP
No, there was no chance of that. Palin already ran as a VP candidate once, she won't be doing it again. If she runs for office, it would be at the top of the ticket. I don't think that will happen either.
Anyone advocating amnesty is a no for me.
On a more encouraging note, Tom Pauken just announced his run for Governor to unseat this fraud...so there's hope yet.
The question I have been asking on other threads, without a lot of response is, if the new definition of Amnesty is not 100% deportation or mass deportation, who then is an acceptable and viable candidate to run in 2016? Tom Tancredo is not going to be elected President.
I don’t care who runs or does not run. It is up to individual voters who to vote for. I am about to become a citizen and have been through legal immigration hell. I cannot bring myself to voting for those who want to award people with citizenship for breaking the US laws. I hold my American citizenship too close to my heart.
I knew that all along.
Rick is not the answer. He is a NWO sleeper cell.
